Gabriel Braga on Relationship with His Fighter Father: ‘Together, We’re Gonna Conquer the World’
Plenty of fighters can credit supportive parents for some of their success, but Gabriel Braga's story stands above just about all of them.
Professional Fighters League Challenger Series 145-pounder Braga (8-0) is just a few days away from his toughest test to date, a clash with Ago Huskic for a PFL contract on Week 6 of the PFL Challenger Series. Still, the 24-year-old Brazilian is very confident he’ll make it to the big leagues. As always, he will have his father, Diego Braga Alves, in his corner. In fact, if it wasn’t for his father, a former MMA fighter himself, Gabriel wouldn’t have gotten into combat sports at all. The two have even shared card space, as both won on the same night at Future FC 7 in July of 2019. While talking with Sherdog, Braga paid tribute to his father for his influence, stating that they’re in for the long haul.
“I’m pretty confident that if it wasn't for my dad, I would never have gotten in contact with the sport. He's everything to me, and I look forward to realizing his dreams and mine. Together, we're gonna conquer the world and check all those boxes of things that he's always aspired [to] as a competitor as well.”
