Fabricio Andrade Looks for Immediate Rematch with John Lineker, ‘He Knew the Fight Was Lost’
Fabricio Andrade was inches away from becoming the new One Championship 145-pound titleholder, and he wants to prove it in a rematch.
Andrade (8-2, 1 NC; 5-0, 1 NC One) largely dominated former divisional champion John Lineker in the ONE on Prime Video 3 headliner before landing a knee to the groin of his foe. The shot apparently broke Lineker’s cup, leaving the
Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran in pain and unable to continue. Ultimately, the clash resulted in a no-contest. A few days after the bout, Andrade confessed he was very unhappy with the result and that his foe didn’t keep his word, shooting for takedowns when Andrade started to outstrike him. Now, “Wonder Boy” is looking for a rematch with the mixed martial arts veteran.
“He was getting picked apart. His face was destroyed. I just landed a knee to the body. He felt it. Everybody saw he felt it. Then I follow up with the low blow. It’s hard to say whether he could come back or not. I'm not the guy, I don’t know how he got hit. Most people probably would come back if they were winning or if they were doing a good fight. If you are getting f**ked up in a fight, you're not gonna come back. It is what it is. Most people would do what he did. He knew the fight was lost, so he preferred to just call it a night and come to the rematch. I don’t know what makes him think that the rematch is gonna be easier, but that's what he wants to do.”
