Christian Lee Plans on Multi-Divisional Reign after One on Prime Video 4
In MMA, there are multi-division champions who move through weight classes, winning one title after another, and there are those who defend two or more belts at the same time. Christian Lee intends to do the latter.
Lee (16-4, 16-4 One) is a few days away from attempting to make One Championship history by becoming the second athlete to fight for a title in three different weight classes. “The Warrior” will pass longtime rival Martin Nguyen for that peculiar record as soon as he steps into the Circle for his welterweight title fight with Kiamrian Abbasov in the upcoming ONE on Prime Video 4 headliner. In 2018, Lee and Nguyen locked horns with the featherweight belt on the line, with Lee dropping a narrow split decision. More recently, Lee reconquered the lightweight title after stopping Rae Yoon Ok with knees 60 seconds in the second frame of their bout at ONE 16 in August. Now, the Evolve MMA representative plans to transition smoothly to ONE’s 185-pound welterweight division and add another belt to his collection.
“After this fight, assuming all goes well, according to plan, I do plan on going back and defending my title at lightweight. I plan on being a double champ and defending both titles. I don't wanna give up my [lightweight] belt after I win the welterweight title. Assuming all goes well, I plan on defending both titles.”
