This should be an intriguing scrap between two extremely promising
strawweight newcomers. Mexico’s Jauregui is the more hyped of these
two fighters, and it is easy to see why she is so well-regarded.
Jauregui is both the rare knockout threat at 115 pounds and an
absolute hellcat of a fighter, willing to constantly pour on volume
in pursuit of a finish. She is far from one-dimensional, however.
During her recent run through the Combate Global ranks, Jauregui
also showed an ability to hold her own on the mat and get back to
where she is at her best. She will need those skills against
Brazil’s Lucindo, who has proven to be a solid wrestler during her
ascent to top prospect status. Born in 2002, Lucindo is the
youngest fighter on the UFC roster by over a year. Even so, she is
already a five-year veteran, having started in the sport as a
teenager. When Lucindo can get things rolling, she is an absolute
mauler who can dominate her opponents on the canvas. It makes for
an interesting matchup here, given that Jauregui’s constant
pressure should also leave her open for some Lucindo takedown
attempts. That may result in some early success, but Jauregui has
looked absolutely tireless to date and should wind up turning the
fight around at some point, even if this should be a back-and-forth
affair. The pick is Jauregui via third-round stoppage.
