Coming off a sequence of three losses -- all via decision -- the “TUF Brazil 3” heavyweight champion was released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Six months later, however, the Brazilian is a semifinalist in the 2021 Professional Fighters League playoffs and is two wins away from a $1 million payday.
Getting ready to face Argentinean Emiliano Sordi on Aug. 19, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion gave an exclusive interview to Sherdog’s Marcelo Alonso. Besides revealing that he and Sordi previously trained together at Nova Uniao, "Shoe Face" also analyzed the other playoff fighters and explained why PFL is a superior personal fit for him over the UFC.
