Scott Askham’s Long Road Back
Former Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki middleweight champion Scott Askham believes it was his opponent that prevented their clash at KSW 83 from having a championship on the line.
Askham (19-5, 4-1 KSW) is excited to be back in a fight week following a three-year hiatus. The Ultimate Fighting Championship alum has been through hard times after undergoing back surgery, and while the rehabilitation process was challenging, he credits his physiotherapist for helping him recover and build a solid foundation. The Englishman also praises American Top Team for their setup, mentioning that training consistently with the same partner helps him gauge his fitness level. In his next assignment, Askham will face long-term rival and fellow divisional kingpin Mamed Khalidov in the KSW 83 headliner. According to Askham, the fight would have had more on the line if Khalidov wanted to, but apparently, his opponent didn’t to be involved with the vacant middleweight championship as Khalidov isn’t committing to continuing his career.
