Mohammed Usman Invites Fans to Watch 'Phenomenal' PFL Heavyweight Roster
Mohammed Usman (7-1) will make his PFL debut riding a four-bout winning streak. The last time he stepped into the cage, at Titan FC 63 on Aug. 28, he upended Terrance Hodges via decision. For his first fight under the PFL banner, the younger brother of Ultimate Fighting Championship 170-pound titleholder Kamaru Usman is scheduled to clash with fellow promotional newcomer Brandon Sayles (5-1) on May 6.
“The PFL did an amazing job with the roster,” the 31-year-old told Sherdog. “The break just gave them more time to reassess their roster and come stronger. They signed some really good guys, they made it exciting. That’s all that is, you know? Everybody wants to watch fights, but they want exciting fights. The guys who have been put into this roster are exciting fighters. It’s going to be a spectacular year of fights. I just can’t wait. You definitely have to tune in. The PFL designed a ros-ter that’s phenomenal.”
Besides Usman and Sayles, PFL’s 2021 heavyweight roster includes former UFC champion Fabri-cio Werdum, 2019s PFL champion Ali Isaev, and M-1 Global and Rizin Fighting Federation veteran Ante Delija, among others.
“At the end of the day, everybody is a competitor,” Usman answered when asked if he wishes to face anyone in particular in his PFL adventure. “Everybody wants to win. Whoever they put in front of me, I’ll fight."
PFL will kick off its 2021 Season in April, featuring fighters completing in six weight classes, with a $1 million prize on the line for each divisional winner.
