Michele Martignoni Is Ready to Make History Again in Rome at CW 158

Former Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 135-pound titleholder Michele Martignoni is on a quest to become a two-division champion.

Martignoni (8-1, 2 NC; 3-1, 1 NC CW) is set to fight in his hometown again as he locks horns with Shah Haque in the CW 158 headliner in Rome on July 29. In his latest assignment, “The Italian Thunder” scored a remarkable comeback victory when he upended former bantamweight champion Dominique Wooding on all scorecards. After vacating the 135-pound title, Martignoni opted to drop to flyweight for the upcoming fight. While talking with Sherdog, Martignoni stated his weight was on point due to a well-planned diet that started months ago. He also expressed his excitement about fighting in front of the passionate MMA fans in Rome, where he plans to deliver another memorable performance and capture the flyweight title. When asked about his vision for the fight, Martignoni preferred to keep an open mind and not focus on any particular move or situation, but he confidently stated that he would finish his foe inside the distance.

“The fans in Rome are amazing. That night was a historical one for sure. I think this is gonna be also better. This second belt means a lot for Italian MMA. I think the public, all the fans and friends, they will be so excited for this. Also, the preliminary and the main card are very, very nice. I'm gonna show a super performance in front of my public this time too.”
