Lupita Godinez on Facing Angela Hill at UFC on ESPN 41: ‘I’m Always Ready’
Lupita Godinez isn’t shying away from fights when the occasion arises. For her next assignment, Godinez (8-2, 3-2 UFC) faces Angela Hill in a strawweight clash that was supposed to go down at UFC Fight Night 212 in October. Instead, “Loopy” will take on her foe this Saturday on the UFC on ESPN 41 preliminary card. The former Legacy Fighting Alliance champion recently upended Ariane Carnelossi at UFC 274. The upcoming fight will be the sixth time Godinez is walking to the Octagon in less than a year and a half. She also holds the UFC record for a seven-day turnaround when she fought Silvana Gomez Juarez and Luana Carolina last October. While talking with Sherdog, she stressed that she is always ready to fight and put on a show for the fans.
“I’m always training. We knew that the fight was supposed to be in October, but it’s happening this Saturday because the UFC asked us. I’m always ready and she’s also always training and willing to take fights like that. If you know her and the opportunity presents, why not take it, right? Might as well get it over with. I’m gonna face her either way in October or this month, but it’s happening this Saturday and I’m more than happy and I cannot wait.”
