Larissa Pacheco Will Be ‘Surprised’ if PFL Playoff Fight Lasts Longer than One Minute
2022 Professional Fighters League women’s lightweight champion Larissa Pacheco is confident she’ll rule over the 145-pound division this year.
Pacheco (21-4, 10-2 PFL) is only two victories away from becoming the first PFL contestant to win championships in two different weight classes. The Brazilian shocked the world when she defeated longtime rival Kayla Harrison in their third clash at the 2022 PFL championships in November. Now, Pacheco is again scheduled to meet a familiar face in Olena Kolesnyk, whom Pacheco has already defeated on two previous occasions. Their encounter ended with a first-round knockout victory for Pacheco in 2021, followed by a technical knockout win in the first frame of their 2022 clash. Ahead of her upcoming assignment on Aug. 18, Pacheco told Sherdog she wasn’t overly concerned about Kolesnyk for the third time, as rematches are a regular occurrence in the PFL format. She also mentioned that she's constantly evolving as a fighter and was well-prepared for her bout, emphasizing her readiness for any surprises that Kolesnyk might bring.
“I don't like to give predictions. I never give predictions for my fights, it's not something I like to do. However, I feel that I’m really, really trained hard for this one. I’m feeling in great condition, I’m strong, fit, agile. All I’m gonna say is that if it goes more than one minute, I will be surprised.”
