Larissa Pacheco: The Whole World Underestimated Me Against Kayla Harrison
Larissa Pacheco had a proverbial pebble in her shoe for three years, but no longer.
The unthinkable happened in the 2022 PFL Championships headliner, where Pacheco (19-4, 8-2 PFL) defeated two-time Professional Fighters League lightweight titleholder Kayla Harrison, handing her long-time rival the first defeat of her career in the process. The pair put on a hard-fought contest that went the distance, and Pacheco emerged as a winner, picking up unanimous 48-47 nods from the judges. It was the third time Pacheco and Harrison met inside the cage, with Harrison winning by one-sided decision in the first two meetings. Vengeance tastes sweet to the 31-year-old Brazilian, and even sweeter since she proved the doubters wrong.
“I don't put it just on Kayla. I feel like the whole world underestimated me. The whole world wrote me off based on the two fights before. I worked, I put in the work and I did enough to surprise everyone.”
