Jackie Buntan Looks to Vindicate Amateur Loss to Amber Kitchen at ONE on Prime Video 5
Two long-term rivals will collide again at the upcoming ONE on Prime Video 5, as Jackie Buntan takes on Amber Kitchen.
Muay thai up-and-comer Buntan has some unfinished business with her next opponent. The Californian looks to settle the score with Kitchen on Dec. 3 after her British adversary defeated her in a muay thai amateur contest in 2017. On that occasion, Kitchen took home a narrow split-decision victory over Buntan. The pair was already scheduled to clash in March 2020 in what should have been Buntan’s One Championship debut. However, the COVID-19 outbreak forced the Singapore-based promotion to cancel the event and, thus, the clash. Buntan recently fell short of capturing the ONE 125-pound muay thai championship after dropping a decision to Smilla Sundell in April, so she doesn’t lack any motivation to take home a victory in her next assignment.
“We have a pretty funny story actually. We fought before as amateurs here in LA five years ago. When I was supposed to make my debut fight, of course, the whole world-COVID happen. Once she got signed, I wasn't signed yet and I got signed shortly after, so I knew at least I'm sure she knew we would meet each other again on the ONE stage. The time's finally here.”
