Dustin Jacoby: 'Get the Judges away from Cageside'

As he prepares to take on Darren Stewart at UFC on ESPN 30 this weekend, Dustin Jacoby's last fight — a split draw with Ion Cutelaba in May — still doesn't sit well with him. "The Hanyak" spoke to Sherdog's Tudor Leonte about his golf game, the postponement of his Glory kickboxing career, and some ideas about MMA judging.

“It’s unfortunate,” the 33-year-old said. “I thought I won the fight, I thought I won Rounds 2 and 3. I think there’s some terrible judging going on right now that we see every single weekend, not just my fight, we see it every single weekend, some inconsistency in the judging. It’s the first draw on my record, it was kind of tough to deal with but… a lot of people have asked about that lately, but that fight is in the past. I learned from it, I took it on a 10-day notice and I learned a lot about myself. I fought a guy who has a top UFC light heavyweight who was training extremely hard for that night and I took that fight on ten days. If there were two more rounds, if the fight were still going, I would have won that fight.”

Tudor Leonte started writing about mixed martial arts in 2013 for Italian media outlets. His journey with Sherdog began in 2018 and now he covers One Championship and countless European shows. You can follow him on Twitter @MrTudorLeonte.
