Aung La N Sang Reacts to the Bold & the ‘Ridiculous’
Following his win in February, One Championship middleweight contender Reinier de Ridder proclaimed he would finish and “choke out” reigning champion Aung La N Sang in their eventual title matchup. While that bold statement may grab the attention of fans and add more sizzle to the bout, N Sang views de Ridder’s confidence as foolhardy ignorance.
“He’s just saying that. He doesn’t even believe it,” N Sang told Sherdog. “I think he is [underestimating my grappling]. But only time will tell. I’m not a one-trick pony. I’m constantly trying to evolve. Constantly trying to get better [and] become a better version of myself. So for him to say that, it’s kind of ridiculous. In a lot of his interviews, he [says] he’s the missing puzzle piece. He even said he’s going to submit me in 10 seconds. He’ll know right away when he grabs me that he’s dealing with something else.”
Along with breaking down his main event bout with de Ridder at One Championship: Inside the Matrix, “The Burmese Python” spoke in-detail about testing positive for COVID-19 in July and the measures Sanford MMA has taken to keep fighters safe during training. In addition, he took part in the Five for Fighters segment and gave rapid reactions on several topics, including on a Myanmar fan getting a tattoo of N Sang on his face.
