Abraham Bably: I've Only Been Doing This for Four Years

Just four years after taking up mixed martial arts, Abraham Bably's future looks bright.

In his latest assignment at Week 3 of the 2023 PFL Challenger Series, the British heavyweight prospect (3-0, 2-0 PFL) impressed the fans with a first-round stoppage of Hassan Graham. That night, Bably was a fury in the cage, storming his foe with punches and hammerfists until the referee called the stop at 3:56 of Round 1. “The One and Only” also left a good impression on the PFL celebrity panel featuring former World Wrestling Entertainment champion Kurt Angle and former Ultimate Fighting Championship titleholders Vitor Belfort and Frank Mir, who praised the Englishman for his aggressive style. The 27-year-old Bably took up mixed martial arts four years ago, showcasing noticeable improvement over that span. Before diving into MMA, Bably attempted a career in soccer but wasn’t happy with that choice, as his true love was for fighting. Having now earned a spot in the upcoming 2023 PFL Regular Season, Bably looks forward to testing his skills against more challenging opponents.

“I've watched [that fight] twice, I had to see the movement a little bit, see the movement was there, make sure that I was doing exactly what I said I was doing,” he said. “I am starving for this, I am genuinely starving for this. My performance showed how ferocious I could be. That was only a potential, you know? I've only been doing this for four years, mate. I was watching my second amateur fight, and that was two years ago. How many people could say they're in a position like this? Imagine me in another four [years]. I'm only 27 years old in the heavyweight game.”
