In this edition of “MMA Roots,” Sherdog Brazil correspondent Marcelo Alonso recalls the history of the famous fight between Karimula Barkalaev and Ricardo Arona in the third edition of ADCC that ended up with the Russian in a "blindfolded" prison and later being deported from the United Arab Emirates.
The volume of Roots also recalls the historical “closed door” Carlson Gracie trial that Alonso was allowed to register exclusively, where Arona defeated Amaury Bitetti, who was considered the premier Carlson Gracie Team talent at that time, before defeating Barkalaev, Tito Ortiz and Jeff Monson.
