SDS: Barnett and Trigg Talk MMA

Greg Savage and Jeff Sherwood were live on the Sherdog Radio Network with guests Josh Barnett (Pictures) and Frank Trigg (Pictures).

Barnett is one of the top fighters at heavyweight in the sport today. For the last couple of years Barnett has been competing in the PRIDE Fighting Championships. On Tuesday it was announced that Lorenzo Fertita had bought the Japanese promotion and would keep running the promotion separate from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Barnett talks about the sale, what it means for him as a fighter, his contract status with the company, and whether or not he feels the aquisition is good for the sport. The former UFC heavyweight champion and King of Pancrase also shows frustration with PRIDE adpoting the unified rules.

Trigg has reinvented himself at middleweight. Since moving up in weight Trigg has defeated Kazou Misaki in PRIDE and Jason "Mayhem" Miller for the ICON Sport middleweight title. This Saturday night "Tinkle Toes" defends his title for the first time against Miletich product Robbie Lawler (Pictures). Trigg discusses the bout this weekend, fighting at 185 pounds, and the merger of PRIDE and the UFC.
