A Very Brady Victory

If you wrote Sean Brady off following his first career loss some two years ago, it’s probably time to rethink that position.
The Renzo Gracie Philly product added a signature victory to his ledger on Saturday night, taking a unanimous verdict over former welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns in the UFC Fight Night 242 headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Brady has been victorious in seven of his eight Octagon appearances and his lone loss — which came to current 170-pound champ Belal Muhammad — is looking better by the day. As a result, Brady climbs to No. 8 in Sherdog’s latest welterweight poll, while Burns, who has dropped three in a row, falls to the bubble at No. 11.

Meanwhile, Usman Nurmagomedov kept his unbeaten record intact with a unanimous decision triumph over Alexandr Shabliy in the Bellator Champions Series San Diego main event. In addition to retaining his lightweight belt, Nurmagomedov joins the divisional rankings at No. 15.
In housekeeping news, the previously fourth-ranked Rayanne Amanda dos Santos exits the atomweight poll as she continues to compete at 115 pounds in the UFC. As a result, Ana Palacios joins the bubble at No. 15.
