Caio Borralho has entered a new tier in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s middleweight division.
The Fighting Nerds standout earned his 14th consecutive win on Saturday night, as he took a unanimous verdict over former 185-pound title challenger Jared Cannonier in the UFC on ESPN 62 headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The 31-year-old Brazilian fended off a game opponent to improve to 7-0 within the Octagon, which allows him to make his debut in the middleweight Top 10 at No. 8. With another signature victory, “The Natural” might be knocking on the door of a UFC title shot.

In other action, welterweights Shamil Musaev and Magomed Umalatov punched their respective tickets to the PFL Championships with victories in semifinal bouts in Washington, D.C., on Friday night. Both Russians boast undefeated records (Musaev’s lone blemish is a draw), setting the stage for an intriguing final at 170 pounds later this year. In the meantime, Musaev and Umalatov enter what had been a stale welterweight bubble, replacing the slumping Colby Covington and Geoff Neal.
