Caio Borralho has entered a new tier in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s middleweight division.
Elsewhere, 14th-ranked strawweight Tabatha Ricci earned a hard-fought unanimous decision triumph against No. 15 Angela Hill in the UFC on ESPN 62 co-main event. “Baby Shark” has been victorious in five of her last six promotional outings, but she might need to win in more emphatic fashion to climb higher in the 115-pound poll. For now, she simply maintains her No. 14 ranking.
In other action, welterweights Shamil Musaev and Magomed Umalatov punched their respective tickets to the PFL Championships with victories in semifinal bouts in Washington, D.C., on Friday night. Both Russians boast undefeated records (Musaev’s lone blemish is a draw), setting the stage for an intriguing final at 170 pounds later this year. In the meantime, Musaev and Umalatov enter what had been a stale welterweight bubble, replacing the slumping Colby Covington and Geoff Neal.
