“Thug” Rose secured her second 125-pound triumph in the Octagon, taking a five-round verdict against Tracy Cortez in the UFC on ESPN 59 headliner on Saturday night at Ball Arena in Denver. Namajunas floored her short-notice foe in Round 1 and cruised from there, keeping Cortez guessing by blending her crisp striking with timely takedowns. After falling to Manon Fiorot in her flyweight debut, the 32-year-old has picked up back-to-back victories over Cortez and Amanda Ribas. A step up in competition could be next for the former strawweight champion, who already has her sights set on capturing another title belt. For now, Namajunas stays put at No. 10 in Sherdog’s divisional rankings.
In housekeeping news, No. 10 Jessica Correa Delboni and No. 15 Miki Motono exit the atomweight poll due to inactivity in the weight class. They are replaced by Shooto champion Chihiro Sawada and Combate Global talent Anastasia Nikolakakos.
