Jack Della Maddalena has emerged from what might be considered a challenging summer with his undefeated Ultimate Fighting Championship record intact.

The Aussie won his sixth consecutive Octagon appearance — and 15th professional bout overall — at UFC Fight Night 227, as he took a hard-fought split decision over Kevin Holland in the evening’s co-main event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday. It’s Maddalena’s second straight split-decision victory after he edged short-notice foe Bassil Hafez at UFC on ESPN 49 this past July. While those efforts might not be as visually pleasing as the four-fight UFC finishing streak that began Della Maddalena’s promotional tenure, his overall body of work is enough to earn a spot on the welterweight bubble at No. 12, one spot ahead of the vanquished Holland.

Meanwhile, the debate regarding the scorecards of the Alexa Grasso-Valentina Shevchenko rematch in the UFC Fight Night 227 main event figures to continue for months to come, but the official result — a split draw — means that there is no movement at the top of the division. Grasso, who is now 1-0-1 against Shevchenko, remains No. 1 with “Bullet” breathing down her neck at No. 2. It remains to be seen whether an immediate trilogy will be on the horizon.

Finally, there was a significant shift in the women’s atomweight rankings, as Black Combat champion Si Yoon Park claimed the Deep Jewels atomweight crown with a unanimous decision triumph against Saori Oshima at Deep 115 Impact “Deep vs. Black Combat” on Monday. Park has won four consecutive outings since returning to active competition in March following more than a three-year hiatus. Her latest victory is her most significant, and she enters the atomweight poll at No. 7. Oshima, who had a five-fight winning streak snapped, drops to eighth.
