By dispatching Jessica Andrade with relative ease in the UFC Fight 219 headliner on Saturday night, Erin Blanchfield put the entire flyweight division on notice. “Cold Blooded” didn’t hesitate to aim high in her post-fight interview, as she called for the winner of the 125-pound title clash between Shevchenko and Alexa Grasso scheduled for UFC 285 on March 4. Whether she gets her wish remains to be seen, but her latest triumph allows Blanchfield to make a big leap to No. 3 in the Sherdog.com's latest flyweight poll.
Elsewhere, Mayra Bueno Silva earned her third consecutive bantamweight victory in impressive fashion, as she finished Lina Lansberg with a kneebar in the second round on the UFC Fight Night 219 preliminary card. After a rough start in the UFC at flyweight, the surging Brazilian seems to have found a home at 135 pounds, where she climbs to 11th in the divisional rankings.
