Calvin Kattar’s misfortune was Arnold Allen’s gain.
It wasn’t the statement-making win he was hoping for in his first headlining appearance, but Allen was nonetheless victorious after Kattar was hobbled by a knee injury in their UFC Fight Night 213 clash at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. That makes 10 consecutive victories for the surging Englishman, who climbs to No. 7 in Sherdog’s latest divisional rankings at featherweight. Based on the circumstances of his latest triumph, Arnold “Almighty” may need another signature victory before he can receive serious consideration for a title shot. Or perhaps he can be part of an interim championship bout if Alexander Volkanovski puts his reign on hold to pursue two-division dominance.
