Faced with an opponent who is difficult to look good against, “Durinho” relied on his ground game to propel him to a unanimous decision over Stephen Thompson in the UFC 264 co-main event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night. With the win, Burns rebounds from a title bout loss to Kamaru Usman in February and keeps his hold on the No. 3 ranking at 170 pounds.

Holding serve was the theme for the ranked competitors at UFC 264, as the likes of Dustin Poirier, Irene Aldana and Jennifer Maia all used victories to maintain their respective rankings in Sherdog.com’s divisional poll. The same can’t be said for Conor McGregor, who after an awkward step remains on the outside looking in at 155 pounds.
