World Championship Fighting Announces First Title Fight

World Championship Fighting Announces First Title Fight and Four Featured Bouts For March 14th, 2009

(PRESS RELEASE) -- World Championship Fighting today announced four featured fights for their March 14th show at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, Mass. Included on the card is their first ever title fight, which will take place in the 135 pound weight division. Dan Bonnell from Renzo Gracie NH looks to win his sixth fight in a row and bring the WCF New England Championship Belt to Renzo Gracie NH. He is one of only two fighters to compete on every WCF card, and has gone 5-0 in the WCF. His opponent will be former 145 pound kingpin Dan Ferrer, fighting out of Team Santos. Ferrer was victorious on WCF5, winning via first round submission over Ethan Kean and is eager to once again have a title belt around his waist.

Also included on the WCF6 fight card is the return of undefeated local fighter John Benoit (7-0). After fighting most of his career at the 170 pound weight limit, John dropped down to 155lbs and has been dominant, defeating both Davin Wesinger and Bill Jones by submission. Benoit returns to action to face Glenn Brown of the Green Mountain Boys. Brown will be making his WCF debut, but is no stranger to the local scene. His style is very similar to that of Benoit, and this will be the biggest test of both of their careers. Benoit will try to extend his record to a perfect 8-0 and move one step closer to a WCF Title shot, and Brown looks to spoil his run at the title and earn a shot of his own.

In another featured fight, two undefeated prospects square off in the lightweight division. Nick Evangelis from Fenix Fight Team takes on Rodrigo de Almeida from BMAC. Both are well rounded fighters that have shown a slick ground game in their previous fights. Neither has ever tasted defeat, and they both want to make sure they keep it that way on March 14. Also featured on WCF6 will be two of the most exciting fighters currently competing in World Championship Fighting. Scott Rehm moves down from the 205 pound weight class to 185 pounds to take on Stephen Stengel in what will no doubt be a war from beginning to end. Both fighters are coming off impressive knockout wins, and both can end the fight with one punch. Don't blink in this one!

The action happens live March 14th at the Aleppo Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, Massachusetts.
