hottest mixed martial arts promotion, invites the media to Prestige
FC 2: Queen City Coronation presented by SUBWAY® Restaurants and
104.9 The Wolf.
The media is welcome to attend the official weigh-in which will take place on Friday, March 11th at 1 p.m. inside the Quality Hotel. All athletes will hit the scale and then be available for interviews as they do their final preparations before fight night. Also on-hand will be Derek Daku, Owner of Prestige FC, and Cord Crowthers, Prestige FC’s CEO & Matchmaker.

Media accreditation for Prestige FC 2: Queen City Coronation will be available at the weigh-in / media availability. The live event takes place on Saturday, March 12th at the George Reed Auditorium inside The Orr Centre with the preliminary bouts getting under way at 6 p.m., and the main card following at 8 p.m. The main card will air live on The Fight Network as well as on Access 7 throughout Saskatchewan.
Prestige FC Featherweight Title – Kurt Southern vs. Nick Rhoads Southern (14-6) made his debut in the 145-pound division at Prestige FC 1 and scored a first-round submission win over Daniel Swain. With that victory, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, product became the #1-ranked Canadian in the featherweight ranks and into the world’s top-100. Southern (Twitter: @KurtSouthern) presents a formidable foe for any opponent with a well-rounded skillset punctuated recently with his training under two-time Coach of the Year Duane Ludwig.
A native of Tucson, Arizona, Rhoads (8-2) fights out of Denver, Colorado, under the tutelage of former fighter and reality show standout Thomas Denny. Tweet (7-5) is one of the Canada’s most-established female fighters and currently stands in the top-10 of every women’s mixed martial arts rankings. This will be the first professional fight for Tweet (Twitter: @notsosweetmma) in her home town of Regina, Saskatchewan. Tweet has won three of her last four, and all of her victories have come inside the first round including five via submission. Tweet is the only fighter to have faced both Ronda Rousey and Cristiane Justino.

Two of Canada’s top bantamweight prospects will square off when Aiemann Zahabi (5-0) faces Kyle Oliveira (3-1). Zahabi (Twitter: @Aiemannzahabi) fights out of the famed Tristar Gym in Montreal under the guidance of his older brother Firas, who has trained several of the world’s best fighters including former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. Winnipeg’s Oliveira (Twitter: KyleOliveira) is looking to stage the upset and will rely on his notable striking skills.
A pair of middleweight bouts are featured at the top of the card. In one matchup, Keith Smetana (10-6; Twitter: @TheBanana7129) from Columbus, Ohio, puts his jiu-jitsu talents up against the striking the Devon Smith (3-1; Twitter: @MrBoomtruck), the pride of La Ronge, Saskatchewan. The other tilt in the 185-pound division pits upstart Mariusz Ksiazkiewicz (4-0; Twitter: @IronPolMMA) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, against tough-minded veteran “Mitey” Micah Brakefield (7-6; Twitter: @micahbrakefield) out of Burnaby, British Columbia.
In a matchup at 140 lbs., Regina’s own Sean Quinn (7-6; Twitter: @seanquinn4real) returns from a two-year layoff due to injuries and finds himself in a clash with Chris Day (3-2), who fights out of Kelowna, B.C. Launching the main card will be a battle of sizeable heavy hitters as Nick Campbell (7-7; Twitter: @nickbcampbell) from Calgary, Alberta, stands in against Dan Amyotte (3-2; Twitter: amyotte_d) out of Cold Lake, Alberta, at a catchweight of 220 lbs.
A six-fight undercard will get the night rolling with showcase bouts for several Saskatchewan fighters including hometown hero Matt Zemlak.
