Global Wrestling Championships Set To Debut With November 22 Pay Per View Webcast

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Hoboken, New Jersey- November 14, 2014- The
Global Wrestling Championships, a first-of-its-kind elite wrestling
event, is set to debut on November 22 live from Ithaca, NY, the
promoters announced today. The unique format will feature a host of
Olympic and Collegiate wrestling stars pared together with a chance
to win $10,000 per match. The event will be streamed live and is
available for fans of wrestling around the world for a nominal
$6.95 fee in advance and $14.95 day of show. The Global Wrestling
Championships will feature a best-of-five series with three minute
bouts and freestyle rules.
"We're trying to create an audience for the sport that hasn't been there up to this point," Global Wrestling Championships producer Wayne Boyd said. "When you put money in the mix, a prize and you put a belt that has some prestige, you get a wider audience base."
NCAA Champion and three time All-American Tony “T-Ram” Ramos is
slated to wrestle four time All-American and 2012 Olympian Sam “The
Hammer” Hazewinkel for the flyweight title, Four-time NCAA champion
Kyle “Dynamite” Dake is scheduled to take on Andrew “Stud”Howe,
NCAA champion and twice runner up from The University of Oklahoma
for the welterweight crown and World University Gold Medalist and
All-American Tyrell “The Destroyer” Fortune is set to tangle with
2012 Olympian and two-time NCAA Champion Tervel “The Force” Dlagnev
for the heavyweight belt.
The Global Wrestling Championships is backed by the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club, a group that lists 43 wrestlers on its senior freestyle roster, including former Iowa stars Ramos, Matt McDonough, Phil Keddy, Montell Marion, as well as Deron Winn and Jarod Trice of the Cyclone Wrestling Club.
Boyd, a 1969 NCAA champion for Temple, is using the event as a launching point for a new competition with 11 club teams competing in a dual league that could fund nearly 90 wrestlers with Olympic aspirations. The league could begin in 2015, a year in advance of the Olympic Games in 2016 in Rio.
