Charlie “the Spaniard” Brenneman Inks Another Multi-Fight Deal with CFFC!

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Atlantic City, NJ – Once again, Charlie Brenneman is scheduled to fight Kyle Baker on Saturday, October 26, 2013, for the Cage Fury Fighting Championships’ (CFFC) vacant lightweight title at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey. These two were set to do battle this past August, but Baker had to withdraw due to an injury. To make matters worse, Baker’s replacement, Ronnie Rogers, fell ill after making weight at the weigh-ins and was not medically cleared to fight.

Brenneman was left without his title shot and needles to say, was very disappointed. “At this point in my career, I've come to expect the unexpected on a regular basis,” said the UFC veteran. “Anger, frustration; all of these emotions came into play”. CFFC President, Rob Haydak and Brenneman’s manager, Mike Constantino mutually agreed upon a release for him to pursue other avenues for his career.

“I had several offers from different organizations, some big and some small,” continued Brenneman. “As a fighter, I have a certain self-worth. For all the sacrifices I put into this sport, it has to make sense in every area, including financially. At the end of the day, I did what is best for my family, myself, and my long term career goals”.

Brenneman decided that signing another multi-fight deal with CFFC was his best opportunity. “We know Charlie and his management had their choice of organizations to sign with,” said Haydak. “We take great pride in the fact that they’ll call CFFC home for the foreseeable future. Charlie is one of the top lightweights in the world and we’re excited to have him back with our organization”

When asked to talk about his opponent, Brenneman joked, “I'm just hoping a guy shows up to fight me on October 26. My Halloween costume this year is the CFFC Lightweight Champ, so I better win this fight. The “Spaniard” defeats “Mustachio” by submission.”

At CFFC, we’re not after guys that leave the UFC,” said Haydak. “That’s simply not our business model. It’s the other way around, we want to send guys there. When I heard Charlie was dropping to 155, it was clear that he wasn’t settling on the fact that he use to fight for the UFC. He truly wants to get back there. CFFC will line up tough fights over the coming year to help him make his case.”
