559 Fights touches down on Rawhide home plate on Saturday

(PRESS RELEASE) -- VISALIA, Calif. – 559 Fights returns to Visalia’s Recreation Ballpark home of the Visalia Rawhide on Saturday for a night of amateur mixed martial arts action.

In May the Rawhide opened it’s gates to the fastest growing amateur MMA promotion in the state and drew a near sellout crowd into the Ballpark for it’s first attempt at MMA.

559 Fights reclaims the field while the Rawhide baseball team is on a 7-game road stint.

“It’s an honor to work with the Rawhide again and their staff,” 559 Fights president Jeremy Luchau said. “We had a great show in May and I think we’ve improved on a lot of things for this event that will make it that much better. We’re always doing things bigger and better each event.”

Tickets for this event start at just $30 and can be purchased at the Rawhide box office or at Visalia’s MMA Gear inside the Sequoia Mall in Visalia.

For front row and VIP information call 559-813-0307.

Doors open for the event at 6 p.m. and fights start at 7.

The main event features a 559 Fights Flyweight Title showdown between Visalia’s Manny Ruiz (4-0-1) and Bakersfield’s Rafael Hernandez (5-1). The winner is not only crowned 559 Fights champion, but also earns a berth into CAMO State tournament on Sept. 12 in Tulare, which is also hosted by 559 Fights.

“This fight probably has the most meaning of any fight we’ve ever had at 559 Fights,” Luchau said. “It’s not only a title fight, but one of these guys moves into the state tournament. I can’t imagine that there’s a more important fight at the amateur level right now.”

559 Fights features a female bout in the co-main event, as Delano featherweight Cerise Sanchez (1-1) meets up with Anaheim’s Angelica Negrete (1-0).

“The fans are always asking for women’s bouts and this just goes to show that we are listening,” Luchau said. “I hope to continue to develop the women’s division and put on many more women’s bouts.”

Bakersfield featherweight Marcel Cyprian (4-1-1) battles Exeter’s Eric Diaz in another pivotal bout with the winner also being offered a spot in the CAMO State tournament.

“Marcel and Eric could main event any 559 Fights card we’ve ever had,” Luchau said. “It’s not going to get much better than that in terms of action. I expect a fast-pace, hard-hitting fight.”

Cyprian’s teammate Holt Felkins (2-0-1) also steps into the cage in a pivotal featherweight bout, squaring off with Visalia’s Devon Chavez (1-1).
