Video: Usman, Covington Have Heated Verbal Confrontation During ESPN Interview
Having Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington occupy the same post-fight show set went about how one might expect it would.

At no point did the confrontation get physical, as both Usman, who was working as a UFC analyst, and Covington were flanked by security during the interview. However, when the possibility of a bout at Madison Square Garden in November was mentioned, Usman stood and took off his jacket.
“It’s a possibility tonight,” Usman said.
“Let’s do tonight,” Covington responded. “Let’s do it right now. Let’s go right now then. You ain’t s--t.”
Of course, security intervened before either man could approach the other. That didn’t prevent Covington and Usman from trading plenty of verbal jabs and insults.
Usman initially congratulated Covington on his victory, but then fired the first shot, asking: “You’re standing here and you’re talking now. When did your balls drop?”
Covington then attacked Usman’s recent injury layoff and bragged about receiving a congratulatory call from President Donald Trump. (Trump’s sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, were both in attendance at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.)
“The only thing you’re losing faster than your hairline is that Power Ranger belt. Stop faking injuries. You’re out for eight months with a hernia injury. It takes six weeks to recover. Stop faking injuries. You’re the Tyron Woodley 2.0,” Covington said at one point.
“You get a call from the President today? That’s right, you’re a loser. No one gives a s—t about you. Everybody came to see me. Shut your mouth and listen to the champ.”
Usman also referenced a previous confrontation between the two that occurred in Las Vegas following “The Nigerian Nightmare’s” championship victory at UFC 235.
“He talks big because there’s security in front of us,” Usman said. “We saw the videos.”
Covington was asked about what type of challenge Usman might present. His response, predictably, was short on positives.
“He sucks. Where’s he good? He beat my sloppy seconds after I already beat them,” Covington said. “He beat guys that were left for dead. Rafael dos Anjos, Demian Maia, I left them for dead. He came and picked up the scraps after me. He’s a joke. He’s following in my footsteps.”
For now, it seems that all that’s left to do is find an official date and venue for Usman and Covington to settle their differences, whether that be Madison Square Garden or elsewhere.
