Chris de la Rocha vs. Adam Milstead

Round 1

The heavyweights let their fists fly from the opening bell, de la Rocha landing the first hard blow with an uppercut that looks to momentarily stagger Milstead. Seconds later, Milstead zaps de la Rocha with a quick burst of punches, knocking the 37-year-old to the canvas. Milstead tries to pounce and capitalize, but de la Rocha regains his senses quickly and powers back to his feet. Now it’s a bloodied de la Rocha driving on Milstead’s legs, jamming him against the fence to work for a takedown. Milstead resists and breaks free of the clinch, and now the big men get back to trading punches. After eating a couple more hard shots, de la Rocha comes looking for the takedown again. Milstead backs up to the wall, fends off the shot and works an overhook to escape. De La Rocha tries to corral Milstead once more before the round ends but can’t do anything with the position.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Milstead
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Milstead
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Milstead

Round 2

More punches from Milstead leave de la Rocha even bloodier as they strike from range in the opening minute of the bout. De La Rocha finally looks to have a good high single-leg against the fence, but Milstead -- who is also coated in his opponent’s blood at this point -- continues to deny the shot. Referee Chris Tognoni splits up the heavyweights after a period of inactivity, and they go back to slugging it out in the middle of the cage. Milstead socks de la Rocha with a few hard hooks in close quarters. Milstead jabs his man backward, then pushes him against the wall. A ripping elbow slams into the side of de la Rocha’s face, sending him tilting sideways. Milstead tacks on a couple more punches before referee Tognoni steps in to save the blood-drenched de la Rocha from further damage.

The Official Result

Adam Milstead def. Chris de la Rocha via TKO (Elbow and Punches) R2 4:01

Aljamain Sterling vs. Bryan Caraway

Round 1

Sterling attacks early with a volley of punches and leaping kicks, but Caraway backpedals out of danger and raises his arms to taunt the “Funkmaster.” Sterling moves to the outside, cutting angles around the perimeter and hitting Caraway with a body kick before diving on a single-leg shot. Caraway hops backward to the fence on one leg and feeds Sterling a few short right hands while defending the takedown. Sterling turns the corner and slides one hook in, pulling Caraway backward to the floor. Now it’s a body triangle from Sterling to secure back-mount. He begins working for a rear-naked choke, can’t get it and slaps on a face crank instead. Caraway won’t tap, so Sterling postures up and drops a few punches before attacking the neck again. Caraway is still in danger here with nearly two minutes remaining in the round, but he’s managed to peel away one hook and is slowly working to escape out the back door. Sterling does well to keep his balance and eventually secures his hooks again. He finishes the round by holding Caraway in a nasty-looking full nelson.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Sterling
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-8 Sterling
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Sterling

Round 2

Sterling dives for an early double-leg but has to work his way back up in a hurry after Caraway threatens with a sit-down guillotine choke. Caraway is swinging for the fences, lobbing huge right hands as he steps forward on Sterling, who is keeping his distance and moving around the outside. Sterling lands a front kick to the gut, takes a sweeping left hand on the cheek in return, and now Caraway closes in to shove his unbeaten opponent against the fence. The pace slows at the midway point of the round as Caraway clings to Sterling’s legs but cannot complete the takedown. They fight to the other side of the cage, where “Kid Lightning” finally plants Sterling on the mat with about 90 seconds remaining. Sterling sits and wraps his arms around the legs of the standing Caraway, who tries to turn the corner and take Sterling’s back in a swift move. Sterling blocks the back-take and sits up against a cage post, where he blocks a Caraway choke attempt as time expires.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Caraway
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Caraway
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Caraway

Round 3

Sterling stomps at Caraway with a front kick, evades a looping right hook and sprawls on a shot. He puts a right hand behind Caraway’s ear, but there’s not much on the punch. Caraway gets inside on a single-leg and easily dumps Sterling to the floor at the foot of the fence. Sterling sits up and looks to hit the switch, but Caraway’s got his arms around Sterling’s back leg, too, leading to a stalemate. Sterling keeps working and flips Caraway head over heels, but Caraway does the same to Sterling and winds up back on top. Sterling tries a ninja choke as he hits the ground again, but Caraway pulls his head free. Caraway now leans right to left across the body of Sterling, who kicks up his legs to try a reverse triangle choke which leads to nothing. Caraway slowly works his way around to the back of the seated Sterling, and the veteran uses his hooks to stay locked on as Sterling stands up. Caraway adjusts and locks up a body triangle as he works for a choke with 40 seconds left to fight. The bantamweights tumble to the ground in the final moments, and that’s where it ends.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Caraway (28-28 Draw)
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Caraway (28-28 Draw)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Caraway (28-28 Draw)

The Official Result

Bryan Caraway def. Aljamain Sterling via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) R3 5:00

Erik Koch vs. Shane Campbell

Round 1

Koch is scoring with speedy combinations in the opening minute, vocalizing with each punch he sticks on Campbell’s face. Campbell is landing some good inside leg kicks, switching stances as he walks forward on the American. Koch goes upstairs with a head kick, backing Campbell up to the fence, but when Koch comes inside to work from close range, Campbell wraps him up and spins him against the wall. Koch breaks out, blocks a foot sweep and continues to score with those fast, hard punching combos. Koch denies another foot sweep attempt and turns the tables by forcing Campbell to the floor. “New Breed” tries to jump on Campbell’s back in the closing seconds of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Koch
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Koch
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Koch

Round 2

Koch runs into a short elbow strike from Campbell, slips to the ground and nearly gets caught by a head kick on his way back up. He powers back to his feet, however, and overpowers Campbell for another takedown here in the opening minute of round two. Campbell does well to maintain guard at first, but Koch slowly works his way into position for an arm-triangle choke. “Shaolin” blocks the choke, so Koch goes over the top, flips over his opponent and looks to jump on Campbell’s back. Koch gets one hook in before Campbell kneels down, blocking the other hook. Koch stays patient, and once he finds the opening for his right hook, he whips an arm around Campbell’s throat and rolls him over with a deep rear-naked choke. Campbell is caught and has no choice but to tap out.

The Official Result

Erik Koch def. Shane Campbell via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R2 3:02

Jake Collier vs. Alberto ‘Uda’ Pereira

Round 1

Collier swings his way into range with wild punches, clinches up with “Uda” but can’t do much with the position before the Brazilian escapes. A clinch knee from Pereira sends Collier stumbling to the fence, where Pereira catches up and slams him with right hands from behind. Pereira drags Collier to the floor momentarily, but the American -- who is leaking blood from a clearly broken nose -- powers back to his feet and works for a takedown of his own. Pereira denies the shot and jabs his way toward Collier, now at the midway point of round one. Collier tries another shot, but the middleweights land in the whizzer. Collier overpowers Pereira to complete the takedown, and suddenly it’s Collier in the dominant position with 90 seconds on the clock. Pereira applies a body triangle from underneath, forcing Collier to stand, and then transitions beautifully onto the American’s back. Collier shakes him loose just before the round comes to an end.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Pereira
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Pereira
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Pereira

Round 2

Collier tries to close the gap straight away and clinch Pereira against the fence, but the Brazilian is able to work his way out of the tight space when Collier overcommits to a single-leg shot. Pereira lands a body kick as he presses forward, then takes a turning kick to the midsection from Collier. The middleweights tie up again near the wall, where Collier blows up Pereira with a huge knee in the clinch. Pereira is already covering up when Collier spins around to deliver a crushing body kick. Pereira slumps to the canvas and referee Jason Herzog steps in before Collier can tack on any additional strikes.

The Official Result

Jake Collier def. Alberto “Uda” Pereira via KO (Knee and Body Kick) R2 1:06

Abel Trujillo vs. Jordan Rinaldi

Round 1

Trujillo scores with the first strikes of the fight, a short left hand and a follow-through right. He backs Rinaldi toward the fence and, once he’s close enough, trips him to the floor. Rinaldi keeps his guard open as he shifts underneath, angling for an armbar or triangle which doesn’t materialize. Trujillo stands over his prone opponent and considers his options while Rinaldi grabs at his legs. Referee Herb Dean warns that he’ll stand Rinaldi up if Trujillo doesn’t do anything, and that’s just what happens at the midway point of round one. Rinaldi begins to find his range with a pair of left hooks and then shuts down a Trujillo takedown attempt. Another left connects for Rinaldi, then a leg kick, but Trujillo answers back with two hard hooks in the pocket. Trujillo gets through with an overhand right in the waning seconds of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Trujillo
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Trujillo
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Trujillo

Round 2

Trujillo catches a kick and runs Rinaldi to the floor within 20 seconds, but Rinaldi soon turns the tables by throwing up his legs and catching Trujillo’s left arm in an armbar. Trujillo stands up and thinks about trying to slam his way free before ultimately placing Rinaldi back on the mat and slowly working clear of the submission attempt. Rinaldi gets back to his feet and uses a rear waistlock to drag Trujillo to the ground near the fence. Trujillo rolls onto his side, allowing Rinaldi to get on his back and establish one hook. Trujillo tries to peel away Rinaldi’s hands, drawing a warning from referee Dean for grabbing inside the glove. Rinaldi finally establishes his second hook with 1:40 on the clock, rolls Trujillo away from the cage and resumes working for the rear-naked choke. Rinaldi switches to a body triangle, still can’t get the choke and tries a neck crank instead, but Trujillo won’t tap out. Trujillo rolls to his knees, Rinaldi still on his back, now with 40 seconds left in the round. Rinaldi closes out the round dropping short left hands on Trujillo’s face and then diving on a last-second, belly-down armbar.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Rinaldi
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Rinaldi
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Rinaldi

Round 3

Trujillo sprawls on a long shot and tries to move from a front headlock to the back, but Rinaldi slips free and gets back to his feet without damage. Now it’s Rinaldi on a single-leg, pushing Trujillo to the fence and then trying to jump on the back of “Killa.” Trujillo shakes him off and lands an overhand right as he denies Rinaldi’s next attempt to tie up. Both men look exhausted, but Trujillo clearly has more sauce on his punches as they swing with two minutes remaining. Rinaldi’s hands are dropping lower and lower as he tries to work his way inside, and Trujillo capitalizes with a cracking right hand, then a follow-up combination. The lightweights land simultaneous hooks, then Trujillo changes levels to drive Rinaldi to the mat near the fence. With 60 seconds remaining, it’s Trujillo in top position, pinning Rinaldi to the ground as time ticks away.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Trujillo (29-28 Trujillo)
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Trujillo (29-28 Trujillo)

Sara McMann vs. Jessica Eye

Round 1

After a tense 90 seconds of circling and pawing, McMann shoves Eye against the fence, where the Olympic wrestling silver medalist scores with a few good knees to the body in the clinch. Another 30 seconds pass with little activity, and now referee John McCarthy calls for action from both fighters. McCarthy eventually separates the fighters with 2:00 on the clock. McMann whiffs on a right hand but scores with another knee to Eye’s midsection before exiting the pocket. McMann is swinging powerful punches but can’t find the mark, as Eye continually slides out of range. Eye is offering up little in the way of offense, seemingly content to bounce on her toes in front of McMann until the end of the opening round.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 McMann
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 McMann
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 McMann

Round 2

Referee McCarthy instructs both fighters to do “a little bit more” in this round after a rather inactive opening five minutes. McMann marches forward on Eye, swinging big punches, and Eye hits a foot sweep to momentarily stumble the wrestler. One minute in, there’s still not much happening, but now McMann comes down the center with a powerful right straight. Eye is sticking to the outside, looking frozen and unwilling to commit to strikes. Eye sprawls on an ugly McMann shot which comes from a mile out, and McMann has to explode back to her feet to avoid a headlock or choke. McMann gets an upper body lock and finally trips Eye to the floor at the base of the fence, now with 2:00 left in the round. Eye threatens to kick off the cage and throw up an armbar, but she loses the opportunity when McMann advances to cross-side control on Eye’s right. Eye rolls to her knees with 45 seconds on the clock; McMann gives her a few solid hammerfists to the side of the head, then a pair of knees to the ribs as time runs out.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 McMann
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 McMann
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 McMann

Round 3

McMann lands a hard leg kick and then covers up as Eye bounces a pair of punches off her arms. Eye throws a left high kick and McMann goes straight underneath, grabbing the Ohioan’s right leg and driving her to the ground about 90 seconds into the final round. McMann passes to side control on Eye’s left, then wraps her up from behind when Eye rolls to her knees. McMann keeps hold of a rear waistlock as Eye slowly moves to stand, preventing Eye from getting up. Halfway through the round, Eye is still struggling to peel away McMann’s hands. McMann keeps her right arm looped around Eye’s body and uses her left to smash away with punches. Eye rolls through, trying to escape, but she only winds up on her back again. McMann continues to score with ground punches as Eye’s squirming puts her in north-south position. McMann is starting to frame up a north-south choke but the submission attempt goes by the wayside, and McMann finishes the fight on top.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 McMann (30-27 McMann)
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 McMann (30-27 McMann)

Paul Felder vs. Joshua Burkman

Round 1

Burkman works from the southpaw stance as he opens up with kicks to the lead leg and thigh of the “Irish Dragon.” Burkman throws a body kick and gets clipped with a right hand over the top, but he resets and puts another pair of kicks on Felder’s leg. Felder bobs and weaves to avoid Burkman’s punches, always threatening to spin on the veteran with feints and fakes. Felder is scoring with some hard low kicks of his own just before the round hits the midway mark. Burkman throws a few oblique kicks, blocks a high kick and steps into the pocket to tag Felder with a right hook. Burkman keeps the leg kicks coming as he circles around the edge of the fence. Suddenly, Felder explodes into range, bombing with punches. Burkman eats a few but slugs back with his own burst of power shots. The lightweights are going blow-for-blow momentarily, standing in front of one another, just swinging hands until Burkman switches it up by driving for a takedown. He wrestles Felder to the ground near the fence, and Felder spends the final 30 seconds slowly working his way back up to his feet.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Burkman
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Burkman
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Burkman

Round 2

After an uneventful 90 seconds of missed punches and switched stances, Felder dodges a wide right hand from Burkman and steps in to deliver a hard knee to the gut. Felder continues to control the center of the cage, though he’s not being much more aggressive than the circling Burkman at this point. Burkman takes a right hook to the chin but eats it and continues to move around the outside. He whiffs on a spinning backfist and narrowly avoids Felder’s counter on the turn-around. With two minutes on the clock, Burkman comes in to clinch and then pushes Felder against the fence with a body lock. The position goes nowhere, so Burkman releases and backs away. Felder marches after him and connects with a nice counter left hook before pushing “The People’s Warrior” against the cage. Burkman spins him around, then Felder reverses and tries to trip Burkman to the ground as time runs out.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Felder
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Felder
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Felder

Round 3

Felder stakes out the center of the cage once again and begins to stalk Burkman, who is circling clockwise around the outside. Burkman sticks a stiff jab and sweeps the leg out from underneath Felder, clipping the “Irish Dragon” with a right uppercut on the way back up. Felder slams a couple good kicks into the lead leg of Burkman, though the lead leg is constantly changing as Burkman continues to flip between orthodox and southpaw. Halfway through the final round, it’s Burkman who has taken up residence in the center of the cage, slowly pressing out toward Felder on the outside. Burkman comes diving for a takedown but doesn’t get to Felder’s legs, instead pushing him against the fence with another waistlock. Burkman switches to a high body lock and dumps Felder to the mat, but Felder springs back up immediately. The lightweights jockey for position in the clinch, Burkman landing on the outside with under one minute left to fight. Burkman has sustained a nasty cut on his forehead and is leaking blood all over himself and Felder, who is desperately trying to throw knees in the clinch. Referee Chris Tognoni separates the fighters with 20 seconds on the clock. Felder goes diving for a takedown, only to be stood up and taken down by Burkman in the final moments.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Felder (29-28 Felder)
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Felder (29-28 Felder)

Jorge Masvidal vs. Lorenz Larkin

Round 1

Larkin sticks out his lead left hand to draw Masvidal’s attention, then delivers a whipping inside leg kick. The welterweights spend much of the first 90 seconds circling, though Larkin scores with a few more solid low kicks inside. Now it’s a body kick from the “Monsoon,” now a kick to the outside of Masvidal’s lead leg. Masvidal continues to creep forward until he’s backed up by an overhand right. Masvidal counters the next leg kick with a short left hook and just misses with a lunging right hand as he backs up Larkin to the wall. “Gamebred” ties up with Larkin at the 90-second mark, slowing the pace with a tight clinch on the cage. Larkin manages to get off a few knees to the legs of Masvidal, causing the Floridian to release and step back. Masvidal lands a leg kick which nearly knocks down Larkin, who instinctively stretches out his left hand and jabs Masvidal directly in the right eye. Referee Jason Herzog calls for the physician, who quickly clears Masvidal to continue. Masvidal still needs another minute to clear his vision, but he tells Herzog that he does want to continue. The round resumes just in time for it to end, thankfully for Masvidal, who will have another 60 seconds to recover from the foul.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Larkin
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Larkin
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Larkin

Round 2

Larkin puts a pair of kicks inside Masvidal’s left leg and then goes upstairs with a leaping switch kick which draws a grin from Masvidal after it bounces off his face. Good, measured striking from Larkin here, limiting Masvidal’s offensive options with a combination of range and quick hands. Masvidal gets tired of going backward and bursts forward on Larkin with a stinging right hand, then a leg kick. Larkin gets hold of a single-leg and pushes Masvidal against the fence, but he can’t complete the takedown. Masvidal drives a knee into Larkin’s body and spins to take the outside position before releasing. Larkin ducks under a hook and puts a straight left hand in Masvidal’s breadbasket as the welterweights circle in the center of the cage. Masvidal pushes Larkin to the fence with 70 seconds on the clock, but 10 seconds later it’s Larkin on the outside with over-unders. The fighters separate and Larkin blasts down the middle with a straight right hand, earning another smile from Masvidal. Masvidal scores with a flurry of late punches but they’re answered by a last-second Larkin takedown.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Larkin
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Larkin
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Larkin

Round 3

Larkin sticks a jab in Masvidal’s face and whips a left kick to the body right behind it. Masvidal marches forward on Larkin and gets zapped by an uppercut, but “Gamebred” answers with a straight shot that bloodies Larkin’s nose. Larkin shoves Masvidal against the fence and gets caught in a high-elbow guillotine, but Masvidal doesn’t seem to have the angle and releases the choke. Larkin lands a pair of left hooks on the break and comes shooting again, but he’s forced to fend off another Masvidal guillotine as they fight down to the floor. Masvidal drives on Larkin’s legs, working for a takedown of his own, but Larkin springs back up just as soon as he hits the mat. Inside the final two minutes, it’s Larkin on the outside of the clinch, pressing Masvidal tight to the fence. They separate with 70 seconds on the clock and Masvidal shoots for a takedown; he can’t get it and winds up hugging Larkin on the fence again after landing a level elbow. Both men throw knees inside as the final half minute ticks down, and Larkin finishes the fight with a spinning elbow in close quarters.

Chris Camozzi vs. Vitor Miranda

Round 1

The southpaw Camozzi presses forward early, chopping at the Brazilian’s lead leg while slowly moving him toward the fence. Camozzi gets into the pocket momentarily and catches Miranda with his head low to deliver a high knee. It’s slow going between the big middleweights, with both men testing the range and throwing leg kicks here in the opening half-round. Camozzi is the more active of the two; he tries to trap Miranda against the fence to deliver standing elbows, but Miranda gets his arm up to deflect the strikes. Miranda catches a high kick from Camozzi and converts it for a takedown, but he’s forced to defend a Camozzi heel hook attempt as they hit the floor. The fighters sit on the canvas with their legs knotted, Miranda elbowing Camozzi’s legs while Camozzi tries to punch from his side. The crowd boos as the fighters don’t seem in a rush to stand up from the unusual position. They remain on the ground for the final 40 seconds; when they get up, Miranda is sporting a cut above his left eye from one of Camozzi’s ground punches.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Camozzi
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Camozzi
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Camozzi

Round 2

Miranda gets to work early with kicks to the outside of Camozzi’s right leg, which is beginning to turn a bright red. Camozzi eats a few punches while on his back foot, but he counters a Miranda kick with a foot sweep and sends the Brazilian crashing to the ground. Camozzi sets up in Miranda’s guard and buries his head, while Miranda shifts his hips underneath, looking for an angle to escape. Miranda kicks him away at the midway point of the round and tries to scramble up, but Camozzi catches a leg and keeps him on the floor. While he’s corraling Miranda on the ground, Camozzi grabs the fence to steady himself, drawing a verbal warning from referee Herb Dean. Miranda is trapped on his knees, unable to get up with the larger man draped all over him. Camozzi tries to slide around and take Miranda’s back, but he’s blocked by the fence. Miranda puts his back to the ground, allowing Camozzi to set up on top again with 50 seconds remaining. Camozzi gets busy with heavy elbows which further bloody Miranda just before the end of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Camozzi
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Camozzi
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Camozzi

Round 3

Referee Dean calls the doctor to check on Miranda, who’s sporting a nasty gash where his left eyebrow used to be. Miranda is cleared to continue, and the final frame begins with him pushing Camozzi against the fence. Camozzi slips out and sticks a jab in Miranda’s face, then grabs him in a rear waistlock and dumps “Lex Luthor” to the floor. Miranda leans left and grasps for a kimura, then spins out to north-south position but cannot escape. Camozzi sets up in side control on Miranda’s left side and shoves him right up against the cage. Miranda uses butterfly hooks to prevent Camozzi from mounting, then struggles back to his feet. Miranda lands a right high kick but there’s not much on it and Camozzi just keeps coming. Double jab connects for Camozzi before he deflects another Miranda head kick. Inside the final two minutes, Miranda walks after Camozzi, landing leg kicks and swinging tired punches. Camozzi snaps back Miranda’s head with a stiff jab, then a straight right. Miranda is trying to press forward in the final minute but he’s got nothing left in the tank. Camozzi just stays on his back foot, hopping away from Miranda and popping him with jabs when he comes too close.

Tarec Saffiedine vs. Rick Story

Round 1

Story absorbs several cracking leg kicks before he’s able to run Saffiedine against a cage post with an underhook. Saffiedine pushes him away and slaps Story’s face with a high kick on the way out. Story tries to close the gap again, threatening with wind-up power punches thrown from the hip. Story lands a wide left hand as he steps into the pocket, tries a lateral drop and has to scramble back up, as he nearly winds up underneath Saffiedine. The welterweights clinch on the fence again, Story on the outside throwing body punches and kneeing Saffiedine’s legs. The cut on Saffiedine’s left knee -- which last week nearly caused the cancellation of this bout -- has opened up and is trickling blood down the Belgian’s leg. Story closes the round strong, bombing both sides of Saffiedine’s body with punches in the clinch. Saffiedine throws a late high kick after the horn but thankfully doesn’t connect.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Story
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Story
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Story

Round 2

Saffiedine keeps the shorter Story out of punching range with front kicks in the opening moments of round two, then shoves him to the ground when Story tries to throw a body kick. Story powers back to his feet and muscles Saffiedine against the wall, then drops down to work on a single-leg takedown. Saffiedine widens his base up against the fence, and Story eventually releases, forcing Saffiedine to pay with a pair of hooks on the way out. Story comes straight back at Saffiedine with more hard body blows; Saffiedine answers with a clinch knee and then resists Story’s clinch with over-unders. Saffiedine keeps trying to pull down Story’s head in the Thai plum, but each time he does, Story tees off with punches to the body. Saffiedine tries to get off the wall but eats a left hook inside from Story, who leans the “Sponge” against the cage once more. Saffiedine does manage to score with short knees inside as Story takes a breather in the clinch down the stretch.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Story
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Story
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Story

Round 3

Story runs straight at Saffiedine, looking to tie up and perhaps bring the fight back to the fence or the floor. In the meantime, he throws a few leg kicks at Saffiedine, who is still trying to counter from his back foot. Saffiedine looks the fresher of the two fighters, but he’s having the same problems as in the previous rounds: when Saffiedine tries to catch Story in the Thai clinch, the American is punishing him with thumping body shots. Saffiedine tags Story with a straight right, gets pushed against the cage again midway through the round. Saffiedine is finding sporadic offense when he shoves Story out of the clinch, but Story is keeping in tight more often than not.
