One Championship lightweight ace Shinya Aoki
will attempt to defend his title against Koji Ando in
Singapore on May 22.
Promotion officials made the pairing public Thursday morning on its verified Facebook page.
Aoki (37-6, 25 subs), a brutal submission artist and finisher, is undefeated in the One Championship cage and has won his last seven bouts since being stopped by Eddie Alvarez in Cleveland at Bellator 66. Only Cody Stevens made it to the final bell against the “Tobikan Judan” during the streak.
Ando (11-3), a veteran of Sengoku, has had similar recent success, reeling off five consecutive victories. The Wajutsu Keishukai Tokyo product is 2-0 in One Championship competition.
