Pancrase 2005 North American Submission Wrestling Championships

On Saturday, March 12th, 2005, at 9:00am, North America's premier submission wrestling tournament kicks-off in Broomfield, Colorado. Submission fighters from America, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, and Japan, once again descend on the "Mile High City" to test themselves at the 4th annual Pancrase 2005 North American Submission Wrestling Championships.

Tournament Director for the event is none other than world renowned Ring of Fire promoter Sven Bean and master of ceremonies Joey "Shades" Varner. For the Old Timer's Tourney, it's Craig Johnson and "Brother from Another" Al Pallone.

New for this year is the Pancrase Absolute Division. It's any weight, any skill-level, and open to all styles. The overall men's Absolute Champion takes home the new Pancrase championship belt. The lady's champ receives a custom plaque. All other divisions will receive first through fourth place medals. All competitors receive a special Pancrase tournament t-shirt.

Also new, is the overall team award. This new trophy will be displayed at Pancrase USA headquarters and lists all past champions. In 2002 and 2004, Grapplers Edge took the title. In 2003, Boulder Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu took top team honors.

As in the past, the event is held in conjunction with the "Still Alive in 2005" Old Timers (collegiate style) Wrestling Tourney. Wrestlers may compete in both tournaments. Both competitions take place at the Broomfield High School, located 15 minutes from downtown Denver, Colorado and 45 minutes from the Denver International Airport. Out-of-towners have a full range of hotels and restaurants located minutes from the venue.

For those who didn't pre-register, don't worry. You can register at the weigh-ins on Friday, March 11, 2005, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, or on Saturday, March 12, 2005, the day of the event, from 6:00 am to 7:00 am.

Directions to venue from Denver: Take I-25 to120th avenue. Travel west on 120th to Main Street in Broomfield. Go north on Main Street to the Broomfield High School at 1 Eagle Way.

ATTENTION: We strongly urge all competitors and coaches to read and understand the rules and scoring system. If you have questions, please an official ask before your match. Remember, this is Pancrase Hybrid Wrestling. It's NOT Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu rules.

Friday, March 11, 2005
6:00 am – 8:00 pm: Weigh-ins
Saturday, March 12, 2005
6:00 am – 7:00: Weigh-ins
9:00 am: Tournament begins.
12:00-12:30 pm – Lunch Break
Tournament ends when it ends

Match Order:
All matches will be held consecutively in division order (1 through 20). Beginning with division 1 on mat 1, the entire division will compete until a winner is determined. Division 2 will do the same on mat 2, division 3 on mat 3, and on through the final division 20.
