KOTC Champ Mulhern Meets 'Hollywood' Hulett at Challengers 20

A new welterweight contest has been added to the Strikeforce Challengers 20 bill, as promotion officials Thursday announced that Quinn Mulhern will lock horns with David Hulett at the Nov. 18 event.

Emanating from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Challengers 20 will be headlined by a middleweight confrontation pitting Antwain Britt against Lumumba Sayers. Also of note is the return of Olympic bronze medalist Ronda Rousey, as the decorated judoka locks horns with her toughest test to date in Julia Budd. Additionally, three-time Division II All-American wrestler Derek Brunson will put his perfect career record on the line when he faces veteran Nate James.

Mulhern recently rebounded from only the second loss of his career to outpoint Danny Davis Jr. at Challengers 19 on Sept. 23. Prior to suffering his unanimous decision defeat to Jason High at Challengers 16, Mulhern had won seven straight fights. The 27 year old captured the King of the Cage welterweight title in 2010, defeating Koffi Adzitso to win the vacant strap at KOTC “Legacy.”

Hulett, 31, has won four of his last five fights. “Hollywood” began his career in 2000, fighting for the Underground Fight Club before competing for promotions such as Gladiator Challenge, Rage in the Cage and Palace Fighting Championships. Hulett made his last in-cage appearance on Sept. 16, submitting Maximum Fighting Championship veteran Ryan Ford with a guillotine choke.
