At Friday’s weigh-in outside in the cool air and under the threatening gray Las Vegas skies, the combatants all stepped onto the scale and made weight, giving the entire event the green light. With a raucous crowd cheering and jeering them on, the main event fighters disrobed and nailed the 155-pound catchweight limit.
Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) looked as ready as he ever has for what is the most important fight of his career. The Bolton native officially clocked in at (155) pounds. Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs) wasn’t about to be outdone; he weighed in at (155) pounds.
Montreal’s David Lemieux (34-3, 31 KOs) will take on Glen Tapia (23-2, 15 KOs) in the co-feature. The 10-rounder is for a vacant regional title and like the featured warriors, both men made weight. Lemieux came in at (160) pounds while the New Jersey fighter tipped the scale at (159.5).
