Fan Favorite Donald Cerrone Hangs Up His Gloves Following Loss to Jim Miller

Donald Cerrone has long been among the most beloved fighters in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, but his fans will likely never see him fight ever again.

Cerrone (36-17, 2 NC) suffered another loss inside the Octagon Saturday night in the featured preliminary bout of UFC 276 Saturday night in T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but this one was the final straw. Cerrone has lost two in a row and before a “No Contest” to Nike Price nearly two years ago, “Cowboy” dropped four straight.

Cerrone has long been one of the busiest fighters on the UFC roster, taking fights on short notice multiple times and has clashed with some of the greatest to ever strap on fingerless gloves. Among Cerrone’s conquests inside the cage are Benson Henderson, Eddie Alvarez, Patrick Cote, Mike Perry, Matt Brown and countless others, while coming up short against elite foes Henderson, Nate Diaz, Anthony Pettis, Rafael dos Anjos, Robbie Lawler, Tony Ferguson and Conor McGregor. There virtually was no top tier fighter that Cerrone didn’t face in his legendary career.

But on Saturday after being submitted via guillotine to Miller in their long-awaited rematch, Cerrone announced his retirement from MMA.

“I just don’t love it anymore,” he told Joe Rogan. “This was one of the longest camps I’ve had in years. I just don’t love it anymore. I want to be a movie star instead.”

Cerrone capped off a terrific World Extreme Cagefighting career by winning Fight of the Night five times. In the UFC, “Cowboy” won the same award six times, Knockout of the night thrice, Submission of the Night twice and Performance of the Night seven times. His 23 wins inside the Octagon is second all-time only to Miller and his 18 post-fight awards is tied for most all-time in the UFC.
