Ev Ting will face Phuket Top Team’s Rob Lisita in the One Championship “Unbreakable Warriors” main event on Sept. 2 at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Like all other featherweights under the One Championship banner, Ting and Lisita find themselves looking up at champion Marat Gafurov.
Ting, 27, has rattled off five wins in six appearances, a May 2015 submission loss to Gafurov the only blemish. The Auckland MMA rep last competed at One Championship “Clash of Heroes” on Jan. 29, when he submitted Eric Kelly with a third-round guillotine choke. Ting has secured eight of his 11 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
Lisita will enter the cage on a three-fight losing streak, having suffered back-to-back-to-back defeats to Gafurov, Kelly and Timofey Nastyukhin. The 33-year-old Australian remains the only man to finish “Lion” Takeshi Inoue, as he submitted the former Shooto champion with a bulldog choke in December 2013. Lisita boasts 11 finishes among his 14 pro wins.
One Championship “Unbreakable Warriors” will also feature a featherweight battle pairing Peter Davis with Shannon Wiratchai, a women’s flyweight clash pitting April Osenio against Ann Osman and a middleweight encounter matching Gilberto Galvao with Tatsuya Mizuno.
