Michael Chandler will receive his shot at Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, albeit a bit later than originally anticipated.

Alvarez and Chandler are set to lock horns at Bellator 58, the Chicago-based promotion announced Wednesday via Twitter. The two had initially been slated to square off at Bellator 54 on Oct. 15, but Alvarez was forced to withdraw from that event due to injury.

Sherdog.com has also confirmed with a source close to the situation that third-season women’s 115-pound tournament semifinalist Jessica Aguilar will meet Lisa Ellis-Ward at the Nov. 19 event. The bout is a rematch of a February 2006 bout in which Ellis-Ward submitted the debuting Aguilar.

Featuring a non-title, 195-pound catchweight affair between middleweight champ Hector Lombard and Trevor Prangley, Bellator 58 will emanate from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The evening’s main card airs live on MTV2 and Epix.

Widely regarded as one of the world’s best lightweights, Alvarez has not lost since suffering a 2008 submission defeat at the hands of current Dream champion Shinya Aoki. Since that loss, Alvarez has won seven straight bouts, going undefeated through his six-fight Bellator career. Most recently, the Philadelphia Fight Factory product successfully defended his Bellator title for the first time by outpointing Pat Curran at April’s Bellator 39.

Former All-American wrestler Chandler is undefeated through his eight-fight MMA career. The Xtreme Couture representative used superior wrestling to win Bellator’s Season 4 lightweight tournament, besting Marcin Held, Lloyd Woodard and Patricky Freire to earn the tournament crown. Chandler, 25, has finished six of his eight conquered foes by either knockout or submission.
