As with past international events, the UFC acted as its own regulatory body at the Oct. 26 show, which emanated from the Phones4U Arena in Manchester, England, and was headlined by Lyoto Machida’s middleweight debut opposite former training partner Mark Munoz. “The Dragon” was successful in his foray at 185 pounds, knocking out Munoz with a head kick midway through round one.
The event also saw Melvin Guillard and Ross Pearson fight to a no contest after Guillard accidentally kneed the Brit in the head while his hand was on the mat. The lightweights will now rematch on March 8, when they square off at “Gustafsson vs. Manuwa” from the O2 Arena in London.
