Headlined by a successful lightweight title defense by Gilbert Melendez against game challenger Masvidal, the event emanated from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. The Showtime broadcast also featured a one-sided women’s 145-pound title affair which saw champ Cristiane Santos knock out Hiroko Yamanaka in just 16 seconds.

Evangelista and Noons slugged it out for three rounds in their lightweight tilt, but it was Noons who ultimately took home a unanimous decision for his efforts. Cole cruised to a unanimous nod of his own over Gabriel Salinas-Jones in the evening’s lone heavyweight contest.
