2024 PFL 3 Regular Season Play-by-Play, Results & Round Scoring

The Professional Fighters League’s regular season marches on with the final event of the first leg of the 2024 Regular Season. The card is primed for an enthralling display on April 19 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, where featherweights and welterweights will battle it out for their stab at fame and glory with $1 million prize money elevating the stakes. Sherdog brings live coverage and play-by-play updates as the action unfolds live at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Business picks up at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN with the main card.

Romain Debienne (170.4) vs. Thad Jean (170.8)

Round 1

The first fight of the night begins with Debienne taking the center of the cage and coming out very aggressive. Right hands are landing as are leg kicks. Jean slows down the pace and answers with a thudding left hook. A solid body kick by Jean. Debienne pumps out his jab and lands a hard low kick. Jean blocks a high kick and a right hook wobbles Debienne. Jean follows up with an uppercut and Debienne is out cold! What a knockout.

Tyler Diamond (146) vs. Otto Rodrigues (145.2)

Round 1

The featherweight alternate fight begins with Diamond taking the center and working his jab. Rodrigues walks into a right hook but lands one of his own. They clinch, and Rodrigues lands a solid knee. Diamond sprawls and avoids a takedown attempt. Diamond takes advantage of the position and lands a knee to the body. Rodrigues goes for another takedown attempt while clinched against the fence, but it isn't successful. Diamond looks for a takedown of his own but settles for the clinch. They break. Diamond gets back into a clinch after throwing some wild hooks. 90 seconds left. A right hand from Diamond catches Rodrigues off-balance and he goes down. Diamond is looking to take the back. He can't get his hooks in, which allows Rodrigues to get back up. The round ends with Diamond going for another takedown attempt and getting his opponent down.

Round 2

Nice right hand from Diamond, who then goes for a takedown. Rodrigues looks for a guillotine choke while standing. Diamond gets out after eating a knee. Diamond is more aggressive and hurts Rodrigues with a right hook. Rodrigues goes for a takedown but Diamond sprawls well. Diamond has Rodrigues backed up and is hurting Rodrigues. Two right hooks land before an uppercut misses. Rodrigues grabs the legs of Diamond and goes to the floor. They get back to their feet. Diamond lands a left hook. Rodrigues looks exhausted. Rodrigues lands a knee and then goes for another guillotine choke after jumping guard. Diamond is in no danger and is in half guard. Diamond is in full control and doing damage to the body. Diamond ends the round on top.

Round 3

Before the round starts, the doctors take a look at the nasty swelling underneath Rodrigues' left eye. They allow it to continue. A nice right hook lands for Diamond, who follows with a left hook that hurts the Brazilian. Diamond landing solid 1-2s. Jab is working for Diamond. Rodrigues goes for a takedown, and the two are up against the fence. Diamond gets control and sprawls well. They disengage, allowing Diamond to go back to his jab. Heavy overhand rights land, and Rodrigues gets back to the fence. Diamond goes for a takedown and is caught in a guillotine choke. Diamond is in half-guard and should be fine. Rodrigues regains full guard but loses his grip. One minute left. Diamond gets the back of Rodrigues, but the Brazilian is able to turn. They get back to their feet with 20 seconds left. The fight ends with jabs from Diamond.

Round 1

Madge throws a knee but then gets thrown by Ward to the floor. Ward gets back to his feet, and the two trade hooks. A knee from Madge stuns Ward, who goes for another throw but gives up his back in the process. A rear-naked choke from Madge forces the tap! A quick six points for Madge in a wild fight.

Laureano Staropoli (175.25: Missed Weight) vs. Murad Ramazanov (170.75)

Round 1

Staropoli throws a flying knee that misses. Ramazanov tries to take his foe down as a result, but they both settle for clinching against the cage. Staropoli tries to do a throw and then gets put down on the ground instead. Ramazanov is able to easily take the back of Staropoli. Ramazanov landing solid punches to the head and transitions to full mount. Ramazanov is looking for an arm-triangle choke. Staropoli gets back to half-guard. Two minutes left. Ramazanov gets back to mount and is unloading punches. Staropoli turns away and eats more shots. Ramazanov lands hammerfists from top at a continuous pace. Ramazanov gets the back and goes for a rear-naked choke. Staropoli is at an odd angle trying to fight it off and eventually taps. A dominant performance by Ramazanov.

Timur Khizriev (146) vs. Brett Johns (145.6)

Round 1

Khizriev lands a nice body kick and then connects with right hooks into the body. A thudding right hand lands for the Russian. Johns gets taken down. Khizriev gets right into side control. Johns is using the fence in an attempt to get back to his feet. Khizriev keeps his opponent down, but it's mostly a stalemate. Johns has full guard. Khizriev lands the occasional punch but isn't doing any real damage. Johns is let back up and goes for a single-leg takedown. Khizriev gives up position but uses an omoplata to get back to his feet with a minute left. Khizriev lands a good 1-2 combo. Johns walks into a superman punch. Khizriev peppers his opponent with jabs. Johns goes for a takedown and is stuffed as the round ends.

Round 2

Khizriev lands a knee to the body and is connecting with right hands. Johns walks into a 1-2 and then has a takedown countered, which leads to Khizriev on top. Johns gets to his knees but is dragged back down. Johns finally gets back up. Khizriev misses a flying knee. Nice leg kick from Johns. Khizriev is working his jab. Johns powers through with a takedown and takes the back of Khizriev. Johns can't get his hooks in and Khizriev gets up. Johns goes for a guillotine choke that fails. Khizriev is back on top, as neither fighter does any damage. Johns gets back to his feet with a minute left. Khizriev does some work to the body before the round expires.

Round 3

Johns clinches against the fence and lands a knee. A trip for Johns fails, and then Khizriev throws him to the ground. Johns has full guard. Khizriev lands the occasional punch but isn't doing much on top. Khizriev gets into half guard as Johns is sat on the fence. Khizriev lands some shoulder strikes. A really dire round. Khizriev trying to scoot his way into mount but loses it. Johns tries to get back to his feet with 90 seconds left but gets scooped up and put on the floor again. Johns gets to his feet with 45 seconds left. Khizriev stays at distance, landing his jab and a right straight. Johns goes for a takedown and gets the back as time expires.

Another left hook puts Barzola down, but he springs back up. Barzola is chasing and coming up short on his punches. Clean left hook for Borics. Barzola goes for a takedown but is thrown down instead. Borics allows his opponent back up. The left hook is money for Borics. The jab is working as well. Barzola just eating punches. An eye poke to Barzola pauses the fight temporarily. A short uppercut for Barzola lands and Borics is hurt. Barzola gets a takedown and is landing an onslaught of punches. Barzola tries to take the back and then dumps Borics down. Barzola looks for the back and gets his hooks. Barzola is looking for a rear-naked choke. Borics survives the round after getting back to his feet.

Barzola ducks under a punch and gets a takedown. Borics counters a sloppy back-take attempt and gets back to his feet. Borics misses a swinging punch and is taken down. Barzola is happy to stay in half-guard and regain composure. Borics gets full mount and then gets sloppy, allowing Borics back up. Borics slips trying to land a knee and is back in full guard. Barzola lands some decent ground and pound as the round ends.

Round 3

Barzola comes out pumping his jab. Borics connects with his left hook, which remains his best punch. Borics is catching Barzola coming forward. Barzola goes for a takedown but abandons it. Borics eats a right hand. Barzola lands an overhand right. Borics is landing more but eats another overhand right. Barzola is the quicker fighter, as Borics looks tired. A stepping in right hand connects for Barzola. Borics fires off a hard right hand of his own and lands a low kick. Both men exchanging evenly. Borics lands a solid combination and then shuts down a takedown attempt. A right hand lands for Barzola, who then ducks under for a takedown. Borics gets back to his feet with less than 30 seconds left. Borics stays composed, landing several lefts. The round expires after Borics misses a knee.

Round 1

Jenkins opens with a high kick. Kamaka eats a body kick. Jenkins tries to snatch a leg for a takedown, but Kamaka gets out. Jenkins wrestles well against the cage and lands a knee. Jenkins is coming out far more aggressive than usual. Another nice kick to the body. Nice 1-2 from Jenkins. They clinch and break after Jenkins lands a knee. A left hook lands for Jenkins, who almost gets clocked going for a takedown. Kamaka eats a jab and answers with a leg kick. Kamaka landing a lot of small leg kicks that are adding up. A short hook from Kamaka stumbles an off-balanced Jenkins with 10 seconds ago.

Round 2

Kamaka opens Round 2 with some nice kicks. Jenkins is swingingly wildly but missing. Kamaka is patient and working his jab. The two trade punches with Kamaka getting the better of it with a nice straight right. Jenkins gets a takedown and controls the back of Kamaka while standing before losing control. Nice body punch from Kamaka. Jenkins gets a takedown and gets the back of Kamaka. Jenkins is looking for a rear-naked choke. Kamaka is able to reverse position and is now on top. Jenkins gets back to his feet. They clinch, Jenkins landing knees. They trade as the round expires, with Kamaka landing a combination.

Round 3

They trade kicks to start the round. Jenkins gets a takedown but can't keep Kamaka down. Nice right hook lands for Jenkins, who then eats a straight right. A thudding left hook for Kamaka hurts Jenkins, who goes for a takedown unsuccessfully. A stepping knee for Kamaka. Uppercut from Kamaka hurts Jenkins, who then eats another knee. Kamaka looks much fresher in Round 3. A sneaky uppercut hurts Jenkins. Kamaka lands a three-punch combination and now Jenkins is getting desperate on his takedowns. Kamaka staying at a distance and working well with jabs and straights. Kamaka gets on top of Jenkins after a failed takedown, then gets back to his feet. Jenkins is hanging on to the legs of Kamaka, who is now grounded against the cage. Jenkins hangs on, failing to do damage as the round comes to a close.

Gracie falls to the floor, trying to get him to engage, but he doesn't bite. Yamauchi lands a nice 1-2. Gracie misses an uppercut. Nice right hand from Gracie after a missed takedown attempt. Gracie goes for a flying armbar, but Yamauchi escapes immediately. A well-timed jab connects, and Gracie goes to the floor. Yamauchi allows his opponent up. Yamauchi lands a solid left hand and comes forward. Nice uppercut by Gracie. The round ends after Gracie peppers Yamauchi with a jab.

Gonzales gets a takedown and begins taking the back of Braga. Gonzales lands a few knees but can't take the back fully. Gonzales tries to get back to his feet but is dragged back down. They finally separate. Leg kick for Braga misses and he then eats an overhand right. Gonzales' speed is keeping him out of range. Leg kick scores for Gonzales. The round is about to expire and a short left hook lands for Braga. Gonzales goes down, and he's completely out! A shocking knockout sneaks in right before the bell. That was incredible.

Round 1

Storley takes the center and is pressuring Musaev. Storley clinches and is looking to get the fight to the floor. Musaev defends well to avoid being tripped. Storley lands a nice knee as he exits. Storley sneaks in a right hook. Left hand is landing for the American. Musaev lands a body kick and then a push kick. Storley is constantly backing the Russian up. A spinning body kick lands for Musaev, which hurts Storley. Musaev lands a right hand and Storley is covering up. Nice uppercut and a jab to the body from Musaev, who is keeping the pressure on. A right hand drops Storley. Musaev lands a 1-2 and goes back to it. A jumping knee lands! Musaev is unloading and Storley falls as the bell rings. Wow! Huge round for Musaev.

Round 2

Storley comes out aggressive, and it immediately backfires. Musaev catches the American coming in with a right hand that drops him. A follow-up left hook lands. Hard shots on the ground and some left uppercuts put Storley out cold. What a showing for Musaev! Five points for the Russian.

Brendan Loughnane (145.8) vs. Pedro Carvalho (145.6)

Round 1

The night's final featherweight bout begins with Loughnane landing a straight right. Carvalho misses a high kick. Loughnane dodges a left hand but eats a leg kick. Carvalho is charging and being very aggressive. Loughnane catches a kick and hurts Carvalho with a right hand. Carvalho is staying aggressive. Loughnane lands another right hand that knocks Carvalho down. Carvalho is trying to get up but is eating punches on his knees. The fight is awkwardly stopped as Carvalho gets punched as he tries to get up and reach for Lougnane's legs. It was not a pretty stoppage, but it was a great performance by Loughnane nonetheless.

Andrey Koreshkov (170.6) vs. Magomed Umalatov (170.3)

Round 1

Umalatov eats two leg kicks early. Koreshkov misses a spinning back kick, which allows Umalatov to grab the back and get a takedown. Koreshkov is able to reverse and gets back to his feet. Umalatov landing knees in the clinch as they're against the fence. Umalatov throws Koreshkov and is in full guard. Koreshkov has an omoplata. Umalatov escapes but can't progress past guard. Koreshkov is active off his back with small strikes. Umalatov is unable to do much but lands a few body shots before the round ends.

Round 2

Umalatov opens Round 2 with a clubbing right hand that knocks Koreshkov down. Umalatov is teeing off, but Koreshkov gets back to his feet. Umalatov tries to get a takedown but can't trip Koreshkov. Umalatov finally gets the takedown and lands in side control. Koreshkov recovers guard. The action has once again greatly slowed with neither man doing much on the ground in terms of damage or coming close to a finish. Umalatov gets the back and drags Koreshkov back to the ground after he gets up. They both stand and continue fighting while clinched against the cage. The round ends with both men separating and Umalatov landing a flying knee as Koreshkov throws wildly.

Round 3

Umalatov lands a body kick. Koreshkov answers with a body kick and then falls after missing a jumping knee. Umalatov allows Koreshkov to stand and then gets a takedown, winding up in guard. Koreshkov looks for an armbar but can't get anything. Umalatov isn't doing any real damage on the ground, which is a running theme. Umalatov gets the back with 90 seconds left and drag his opponent down after he stands. Umalatov gets back inside the guard and is happy to sit there for the rest of the fight. It ends with Umalatov landing small punches on top.
