11-Time Octagon Veteran Ben Saunders Announces UFC Return
After a brief hiatus, Ben
Saunders is back in the
Ultimate Fighting Championship (online sportsbooks).
The 33-year-old welterweight announced the news via Twitter on Tuesday. The promotion has not revealed a date for Saunders’ Octagon return.
“We back on the UFC roster!” Saunders wrote. “Let the games
begin!!!”
“Killa B” hasn’t been gone for long, but he initially decided against signing a new deal with the Las Vegas-based promotion following a loss to Patrick Cote in January due to personal issues. Saunders returned to active competition on Sept. 9, submitting fellow UFC veteran Jacob Volkmann in 17 seconds at Fight Night at the Island in Minnesota.
Prior to the loss to Cote, Saunders had won three straight in the promotion, besting Kenny Robertson, Joe Riggs and Chris Heatherly in succession. He is 7-4 over the course of two UFC stints. Saunders also compiled a 7-3 mark in Bellator MMA from 2011 to 2013.
