The Walkmen: ‘The Ultimate Fighter 22’ Finale Walkout Songs

LAS VEGAS -- If there was a door to an Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight title shot, Frankie Edgar surely kicked it in during “The Ultimate Fighter 22” Finale on Friday at The Cosmopolitan.

Much like his trademark walkout song -- “Kick in the Door,” by the Notorious B.I.G. -- suggests, Edgar burst through the door at 145 pounds with his first-round knockout of Team Alpha Male product Chad Mendes in the main event. “The Answer” dropped Mendes with a beautiful combination of hooks midway through the first frame. Brought the cage by Aaron Lewis’ “Country Boy,” Mendes has lost two fights in a row and finds himself further away from featherweight gold than at any time in recent memory.

SBG Ireland export Artem Lobov would have preferred a better introduction to the UFC. After walking out to “Intro,” by The XX, Lobov was dominated by grappling ace Ryan Hall and lost a unanimous decision in “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 22 lightweight final. The Who’s “Pinball Wizard” trumpeted Hall’s arrival ahead of his fifth consecutive victory.

Other notable song choices included “Dead Wrong,” by the Notorious B.I.G., which preceded Evan Dunham’s unanimous decision against Joe Lauzon; “The Devil is a Lie,” by Rick Ross and Jay-Z, which played before Julian Erosa’s split verdict over Marcin Wrzosek; and Ron Artest’s “Champions,” which led the returning Mike Pierce back to the Octagon for the first time in more than two years.
