The Ultimate Fighting Championship was back in the established modest residence of the Apex Facility in Las Vegas after a few weeks. UFC Fight Night 241 encompassed an entertaining collection of fights capped by a pair of electric performances in the main and co-main event to wrap up the evening. As the entertaining evening of fights wrapped in spectacular fashion, the spotlight now shifts to a few fighters who shoulder the burden of a dismal record that extends with losses endured in the recently concluded showcase. Let's take a closer look at some of the fighters who now face the looming specter of the dreaded pink slip:
Warlley Alves
It would be safe to say that Alves’ career is sinking deeper into a rut. The Brazilian is struggling to break free from career stagnation that now stands at four losses in a row. Going up against Abusupiyan Magomedov, Alves was a sizeable underdog and the fight was a glaring evidence of why. The 33-year-old had his influx of positive instances on the explosive front, but Magomedov was able to neutralize the advances with his wrestling prowess. “Abus” managed to control the fight on the canvas and inflicted damage, even managing to open a cut on Alves in the second round. In the end, the judges scored the bout 30-36 unanimously in favor of Magomedov, leaving Alves stranded with four losses in last five Octagon outings. The Rizzo RVT standout, who holds a record over former UFC 170-pound interim champion Colby Covington, hasn’t displayed the same formidable demeanor that characterized his early career, marked by an impressive 10-0 run.
Vinicius Salvador
Salvador punched his ticket in the UFC after securing a contract with a stellar TKO victory over Shannon Ross at Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2022. Against Adrian Yanez at UFC Fight Night: Barboza vs. Murphy, Salvador was caught on the raw end of a wild exchange that saw him crumble to an overhand right from his foe. This loss compounds the sting of defeat that echoes the unanimous decision losses endured against Victor Altamirano and C.J. Vergara. It’s beyond question that the Brazilian is navigating a minefield when it comes to retaining his spot in the organization. “Fenomeno” will surely benefit from a thorough assessment and reformulation in his approach should he get another opportunity to fight for his spot in the organization.
Dodging the Bullet
Other names on the roster like Emily Ducote and Kleydson Rodrigues have registered mediocre displays, yet, it is unlikely that they will be cut from the roster immediately. As for Rodrigues, his case tips slightly towards the brink of being axed. However, even though three losses in the last four outings in the Las Vegas-based promotion should be a wake-up call, one can expect that the Brazilian will be offered another shot to grind to claw back into the win column.
