The Insane Prop Bets of UFC Fight Night 148

UFC Fight Night 148 on Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee, featured six upsets, and whenever there are so many victorious underdogs on a card, prop bettors are sure to cash in. These are five of the biggest prop bets to cash at Bridgestone Arena:

Anthony Pettis Wins in Round 2 (+1600)

The main event resulted in a shocking upset, as Pettis caught Stephen Thompson with a Superman punch near the end of the second round, authored a brutal finish and threw his name in the hat for “Knockout of the Year.” Pettis appeared to be headed for a two-rounds-to-none deficit when he landed a Superman right hook on Thompson’s jaw, dropped him and put away the karateka with ground-and-pound with just five seconds left in Round 2. The prop on Pettis winning by TKO hit at +955, but by far the most insane prop of the whole night to cash was his winning in the second round, which hit at ridiculous +1600 odds.

Maycee Barber Wins in Round 2 (+525)

Though she struggled in the first round, Barber stormed back in the second to finish J.J. Aldrich in an exciting women’s flyweight bout. With the win, Barber improved to 7-0 with six finishes as a pro, with her last two stoppages coming in the second round. The prop on Barber winning in Round 2 cashed at a heavy +525 number.

Marlon Vera Wins by TKO (+402)

Vera upped his winning streak to three fights with a brutal first-round knockout of Frankie Saenz. Vera’s last three victories have come by knockout or submission, and if he keeps it up, he will be a dark horse contender for the Sherdog’s All-Violence Team at 135 pounds. The prop on Vera winning in the first round hit at +375, but even better was the prop on his winning by TKO at +402.

Randa Markos Wins in Round 1 (+925)

It is rare to see a finish in the women’s strawweight division, let alone one that occurs in the first round. However, Markos pulled off the feat when she submitted Angela Hill with a first-round armbar. This was perhaps the best performance of Markos’ career and she likely needed it to save her spot on the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster; she has been inconsistent during her run in the promotion. The prop on Markos winning by tapout hit at +800, but even better was the +925 prop on her winning in the first round.

Chris Gutierrez Wins by Decision (+299)

One of the most lopsided bouts on the card saw Gutierrez batter UFC newcomer Ryan MacDonald with low kicks to pick up his first win inside the Octagon. Gutierrez struggled badly in his UFC debut -- he was submitted by Raoni Barcelos -- but showed why the organization signed him with this impressive victory over MacDonald. The prop on Gutierrez winning by decision cashed at +299 odds.
