UFC 232 on Saturday in Inglewood, California, gave rise to a number of unexpected twists and turns, and as a result, the events saw several juicy props cash. Here are the five biggest Insane Prop Bets to score, as the Ultimate Fighting Championship drew the curtain on 2018:
Alexander Volkanovski Wins in Round 2 (+975)
Volkanovski showed the MMA world that he was a serious problem at 145 pounds with a brutal second-round technical knockout of Chad Mendes. People in the know have raved about the Aussie for years, but despite his 5-0 record in the UFC leading up to this fight, it still felt like fans were expecting more from him. He provided further ammunition for his backers with his performance against Mendes, as he showed off the skills that could net him a title shot against featherweight champion Max Holloway in the not-too-distant future. The prop on Volkanovski winning by TKO hit at +450, but even more impressive was the prop on his winning in the second round, which hit at +975.
Megan Anderson Wins in Round 1 (+850)
Anderson secured the most significant win of her career on the undercard, where the former Invicta Fighting Championships titleholder finished Cat Zingano with a toe-poke head kick that resulted in a fight-ending eye injury. No one knows how the bout would have played out had Zingano managed to continue, but Anderson proved to be a profitable play for her backers. The prop on the Aussie winning by TKO hit at +479 and even better was the prop on her winning in the first round, which hit at +850.
Nathaniel Wood Wins in Round 3 (+1250)
The biggest prop to cash on the entire card came courtesy of Wood, a former Cage Warriors Fighting Championship titleholder who posted a third-round submission on Andre Ewell. The prop on Wood winning by submission cashed at a nice +577, but the real treasure was his winning in the third round, which scored at massive +1250 odds.
Uriah Hall Wins in Round 3 (+1200)
Although Bevon Lewis appeared to be on his way to winning a convincing unanimous decision, Hall showed why fights are never over until the final bell and landed a Hail Mary counterpunch that put away the previously unbeaten Jackson-Wink MMA prospect in the third round. Hall has endured an up-and-down career but proved yet again that he remains a threat to turn out the lights on anyone. The prop on Hall winning in the third round hit at +1200.
Montel Jackson Wins by Submission (+1100)
Jackson cinched a brabo choke against former Ring of Combat champion Brian Kelleher and walked out of the Octagon with his first UFC victory. The 26-year-old Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series alum made his pro debut in June 2017 and now owns a 7-1 record, with six finishes. The prop on Jackson winning in the first round scored at a nice +575, but even better was the prop on his winning by submission, which cashed at +1100.
