Ricky Bandejas Believes He'll Be Too Much for Patrick Mix

Ricky Bandejas is set to return to the cage at Bellator 222, which takes place inside Madison Square Garden. He will take on Bellator MMA newcomer Patrick Mix on the main card. The 27-year-old is excited to fight at "the Mecca of fighting" and performing in New York City.

The surging prospect is ready to fight on one of Bellator's biggest cards ever. "It is cool, it is exciting. Just awesome to be on a card like this," he said to Sherdog.com. "It's history, they are putting so many superstars on this card."

Although being on the card is exciting, he won't stop at just that. Rather, he is prepared to give Mix his first career loss and get back into the win column at the same time.

"[The plan is to] just be myself. Come forward like I always do and pressure," he explained. "Stuff his takedowns, he wants the fight on the ground so just be on my A game. I just think I'll be too much for him. I know he is very good. I'm on a different level than him. He hasn't fought anybody like me. I will go out there and give him a tough time. We are getting a win just matter of how."

After a razor close fight against Juan Archuleta, Bandejas is ready to start another winning streak. His end goal is to keep on winning until he claims the title. "For me personally, it is a big deal. I hate losing," Bandejas said. "The best fighters in the world have a couple of losses. But, I just gotta get back to winning."

In this fight against Mix, he understands just how good he is. "Patchy" is a submission ace, but after already fighting one of those in James Gallagher, Bandejas knows what it takes to win. He believes that a victory here would mean that he's two more wins away from a title shot.

As for who he would want next if he wins, the Gallagher rematch is always a possibility for Ricky Bandejas. "Absolutely. I'd fight him now. It doesn't matter to me. I like to stay active, I like to fight," Bandejas concluded. "If I have to fight him 10 times in a row I'd do it. If he really thinks it was a fluke, then sign the contract and let's run it back. Win or lose we can always set it up."

Ultimately, he is just focused on Friday as he knows he can't look past Mix or his losing streak will go to two. Now on the main card, Bandejas is looking to show he is a top bantamweight in the world.
