Relentless Stout Decisions Ouimet to Capture TKO Lightweight Belt

MONTREAL, July 15 — Friday night, the Metropolis in Montreal played host to a capacity crowd for the long awaited TKO 21: Collision. The main event was truly one for the fans, as TKO lightweight champion Donald Ouimet looked to defend the belt against arguably the most exciting fighter in Canada.

Sam Stout came out from the opening bell the aggressor, stalking Ouimet with quick hands and plenty of leg-work while maintaining respect for the champion. Many had expected Ouimet to take this fight to the ground however Donald seemed quite content playing counter-puncher on this night.

Stouts’ relentless attack on the legs was the difference in the fight, as a late charge by Ouimet just wasn’t enough in the end. Sam Stout is awarded the split decision victory and becomes the TKO lightweight champion much to the chagrin of the hometown fans.

In the semi-main event of the evening, Jonathan Goulet treated the crowd to another impressive stoppage over veteran Kyle Jensen. Goulet launched a high kick, narrowly missing the head of his opponent and was immediately taken down for his efforts. The two work for position and attempt numerous submissions with Goulet, at this point, clearly in control. At 1:46 Goulet secures a Kimura to run the win streak to seven.

On but a week’s notice, Shonie Carter stepped in against Jason MacDonald, who was making his TKO debut at 185. MacDonald made the first move, which found the fighters in a clinch and eventually with Shonie doubled over in pain from an inadvertent knee to the cup.

He took the needed time to recover and was rewarded with a smattering of boos and whistles from the pro-MacDonald crowd. This type of thing did not faze “Mr. International,” as the crafty veteran gets the first of many takedowns, and controls the fight on the ground.

MacDonald’s conditioning was clear when he took the fight to Carter early in the third, but found himself on the receiving end of a slam. Unfazed, he continued to press, but it was too little too late and Carter is declared the winner by decision.
