Michael Bisping did not spend much time licking his wounds.
As Bisping prepares to take on Gastelum in the UFC’s first visit to mainland China, here are some of the numbers that have come to define him:
2: Fighters in UFC history who have spent more than six hours competing in the Octagon. Bisping has six hours, three minutes and three seconds of cage time under his belt. Only Frankie Edgar (6:27:49) has more.
3: Wins by submission. Bisping tapped three of his first 10 opponents -- he utilized two armbars and a guillotine choke -- but has not won via submission in nearly 12 years.
7: Post-fight bonuses earned since he arrived in the Ultimate Fighting Championship in June 2006. Bisping has been awarded five “Fight of the Night” bonuses and two “Performance of the Night” bonuses totaling $330,000.
8: Men other than Bisping who have captured the UFC middleweight crown. They are St. Pierre, Silva, Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Rich Franklin, Evan Tanner, Murilo Bustamante and Dave Menne.
20: Wins in the UFC, making him one of the two winningest fighters in the history of the promotion. St. Pierre has also recorded 20 victories inside the Octagon.
28: Appearances in the UFC. That number ties Bisping with Jim Miller for first on the all-time list.
38: Years of age. Bisping was born on Feb. 28, 1979 in Nicosia, Cyprus.
202: Combined victories between the eight opponents who have defeated Bisping. They are St. Pierre, Rockhold, Tim Kennedy, Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen, Wanderlei Silva, Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans.
518: Days spent as UFC middleweight champion, the third longest title reign of all-time at 185 pounds. Only Silva (2,457) and Weidman (888) sat on the middleweight throne longer.
1,560: Significant strikes landed in UFC competition, more than any other fighter in history, according to FightMetric. Bisping ranks ahead of Edgar (1,378), St. Pierre (1,313), Nate Diaz (1,210) and Evan Dunham (1,196).
